Great story. I wish he would do speeches at schools in California and educate the young about the evils they know little about.

If the wannabe communists and socialists in the country only knew the disgusting systems they are supporting while good men and women die for the very system they oppose.

Holocaust survivor: I'm giving $1 million to help wounded American veterans, to express my thanks

At 83 years old, I am one of the few remaining Holocaust survivors – thanks to the American troops who rescued me in what seems like a lifetime ago.

Since World War II, I’ve felt a deep connection to American troops for saving my life – a feeling that resurfaces every year on Veterans Day and throughout the holiday giving season.

And so this year I’m saying “thank you” to the American soldiers of the 1940s by donating $1 million to organizations serving wounded American veterans today.

My donation to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Services for Armed Forces program of the American Red Cross is my way of giving back, thanking previous generations of warriors for helping me. I hope this inspires others to give back as well.

Even though more than 70 years have passed since my rescue, it’s not too late to give back. That’s a lesson I hope the next generation recognizes, because it’s all too easy to let procrastination give way to inaction. But action is what brings hope to those who need it.

It's funny.

The holocaust was committed by a country which tried to impose fascism around the world.

Now a holocaust survivor is spending money on US soldiers going around the world invading and intimidating other countries into doing what it wants. Getting millions killed so the US can have cheaper oil.

Well done that man.

I appreciate your posting the story, although your dig at "wannabe communists and socialists" cheapens it a bit IMO. :dunno:

Sorry, I can't help myself. It's personal.

Still a great story indeed and an important one, regardless of my additional and broader commentary.

Radical socialists created concentration camps. Communists developed gulags. This man experienced it first hand, and the torch has been passed and continues to be passed even as so many are manipulated to accept these systems in a naive understanding of these systems.

To this day we continue to fight communism in Russia and China and face an increasing threat of apparently benevolent socialists who are generally looking for excuses to control your pursuits, your money, your health and picking winners and losers with YOUR taxes.

I think we are entering a phase in Western history in which good men will speak the truth of abuses and no longer feel "shamed" into believing that individual liberty and pursuits is somehow cruel and that the false presentation of "the collective good" as being better for society. I know better. As do many fighting these scourge today and so many did yesterday.

Seriously?? We have more than enough oil right here. What are you talking about?

Maybe it’s time you listen to someone that has actually been through hell and back, for a change. You might actually learn something.

I worked for a prominent Jewish golf club in a very rich part of the country. At least one of those members was a Nazi Concentration Camp survivor. You're making assumptions about me that you have no idea about.

The US has enough oil at home? No, it doesn't.

List of countries by oil consumption - Wikipedia

The US consumes about 19 billion barrels of oil per day.

List of countries by oil production - Wikipedia

The US produces 8 billion barrels per day.

Now, I'm no math expert, but I'm thinking 19 is higher than 8.

US troops are being used as tools by rich Americans who use their lives to make more profits. This is FACT.

Good question-
U.S. net imports of natural gas peaked in 2007. In 2016, the United States imported about 3 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas and exported about 2.3 Tcf, resulting in net imports of about 0.7 Tcf. In 2016, net imports (imports minus exports) of natural gas were equal to about 3% of U.S. natural gas consumption.Apr 25, 2017

Yes, you're right. I was reading BBL as Billion Barrels a day without thinking how high that would make those figures.

Either way, production is half that of consumption.

The source for US production is from the CIA

The World Factbook — Central Intelligence Agency

Why is US Oil Consumption Lower? Better Gasoline Mileage?

In this source you have a chart at 19 million a day, and an article saying 4.7 million.

Go figure.

us-oil-products-consumption-v2.png

This suggests that Gasoline consumption is higher than that 5 million, at around 8 million, but distillate and other pump this up to another figure.

So, I'm going to suggest there are different figures based on people cherry picking things. Gasoline consumption is 8 million, oil consumption as a whole closer to 19 million.

Yes, the US can extract more oil. But it's still not sustainable at present.

No, it’s not. Read the rest of what I gave you.

Go figure.

First, that should read millions, not billions, and secondly we use approximately 10 million barrels per day, not 19 billion. And here is our production per day-

EIA estimates U.S. crude oil production averaged 9.3 million barrels per day (b/d) in October, down 90,000 b/d from the September level.Nov 7, 2017

We increase our drilling, we have more than enough.

US oil reserves surpass those of Saudi Arabia and Russia - CNBC.com
CNBC › 2016/07/05 › us-oil-reserves-sur...

Jul 5, 2016 · The US holds more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia and Russia, the first time it has surpassed those held by the world's biggest exporting nations, according to a new study. Rystad Energy estimates

Right now, between what has been found in the US and Canada so far as reserves, there are over 400 billion barrels we can reasonabl6 extract. And more are found all the time.

No, I don't do "read what I've shown you". You present your argument here. I'll go to the sources if I want to CONFIRM what you've written.

Besides, it doesn't matter. None of that means the US doesn't go to war for oil.

The US doesn't go to war to steal the oil. It goes to war to CONTROL OPEC.

In 2002 there was a coup d'etat, supported and funded by the US government against the guy who was trying to get OPEC to be strong again. The coup failed. At that time there were 4 OPEC countries who didn't like the US.

Venezuela, had the coup, and has had sanctions against it for a while now.
Iraq, invaded. Pumping out much more oil.
Libya, bombed, leader deposed, not pumping out as much oil because things got messed up there.
Iran, sanctions, sanctions and more sanctions (pretending it's about nukes).

Look how much more oil OPEC is pumping out now than before. Why? They're weak. Why are they weak? Well, wars from the US against OPEC members, sanctions. Venezuela has been crippled because of lower oil prices, suits the US just fine.

The war on OPEC is what the wars for oil are all about.
