Capitalism is not a singular, static thing. It includes variables, such as amount and efficiencies of regulations and controls.

Those who don't understand that regulations and controls are an important component of capitalism have made it a target for the socialists.

Of course it is, that was my point. Everything has to be controlled including capitalism. It's not the control so much, it's how much control they have. Socialism is nothing but government control, while capitalism (so far) has more than enough control, but still far less than Socialism.

capitalism is individuals control by proxy, and socialism is government control like you said.

Socialism or what can be considered Democratism is kind of like the communes we once had in the 70's. Everybody under one roof. Some go out and work to bring in money. Some take care of the home and harvest gardens. Some sit in the home and have children. But after a while, the people who went out to work to bring back money got tired of doing so. Once they left, the communes collapsed.

Democrats hold on to that vision, and believe it would be great to have a nationwide commune.

just look at Manson's commune. no one worked, and they got by by punishing those who were hard workers. that's the dems.

Our public school system needs a makeover.....top to bottom...test all educators and faculty and fire the people who don't pass....fix the public school system and the Universities will follow....

Test it hell, I say get rid of it altogether to the largest extent possible and let parents pay for educating their own brats for a change. Maybe if they have to sit down and pay that bill once a month they'll all of a sudden give a shit about what they are getting for their money and they'll actually care if Johnny and Susie can read and do basic math for a change. Show me a time when some people didn't think this country was going in the wrong direction. But you don't change the entire country for that reason, especially when there are places that are already changed that way for you. We didn't become the greatest country in the world, and most desired to be in, because of Socialism. We have something here that most other places don't have, and I'd hate to see it thrown away because capitalism is just too hard of an economic system to live under.

That's only part of the reason. Capitalism has been distorted by people who refuse to regulate it properly (see Greenspan, Alan, 2008 Meltdown), and people also look at those people who support it. They don't like what they see. If some nasty, hateful hardcore left winger passionately supported something, it would be less likely that you would, too. That's just fundamental human nature, and the GOP is ignoring it.

So, another system that comes along will get a closer look than it might have otherwise. And that's exactly what's happening right now.

I know you'll disagree. But at least now you have a bigger picture.
