You are not in the USA and you don't need a 44 mag for home defense

stop the intruder, not blow his body parts into your neighbors yard
That is for bear protection
I have a SW 44, that is not my home defense gun at all
tad bit of dirty harry apparently in you.....
I dont own itI can't see Morti handling a 44 magnum. I uploaded the picture to Grok AI and it said the pistol is probably a Rossi/Taurus 971/627 series, Ruger GP100, or a S&W 686, probably in 38 Special or 357 mag.
The blue box of Sellier & Belot also appears to be 38 or 357 mag. Their 44 mag comes in a black box.
Maybe Morti will tell us what caliber pistol it was.
yes, likely a 357 [have a SW too] downloaded to 38, some lesser brands add cosmetics to make it look more bad ass than it really isI can't see Morti handling a 44 magnum. most likely the python, rare chance the anaconda [44 mag], that has some real snap to itI dont own it
Its a 3 years old picture taken at shooting range but i had a instructor and supervisor and those were his firearms i paid a fee to shoot a bit it was a gift for my 40th birthday i remember the gun as 'colt' only

All for show, not function, not built quality or accuracy
I apply this policy on my home, as well.
nice beef, cosmetics, basically a K frame in design, hogue grips likely, Ruger makes some good wheel guns tooAside from 9mm and 44 mag, most of the shooting I'm doing is handloads in my 357 mag Ruger GP100. I wanted to put a scope on it but pistol scopes are pricey these days. So I just put a cheap red dot on it. I'm shooting mostly Hornady 140 gr XTP bullets with Hodgdon H-110 powder, averaging about 1350 fps. I could push those up to 1600 fps but then you lose the accuracy. Best I can get is 2" groups at 50 yards from a sandbag rest, so it's no tack driver.

How do you know? You are not in the USA and you don't need a 44 mag for home defense
Mort is from the EUHow do you know?
This does not answer the question. The best instructors do not advocate a 44 mag with 5 shots
I have one of these, with a light and a red dot, under the bed.Home defense, I prefer a shotgun.

9mm, 10.5" barrel, 35 rounds. Except for shot-per-shot power, its better than a shotgun.
Its a freaking tank, too.

Thinking of getting one of these in 10mm, to share mags with my M&P 2.0
If you beard is too long sometimes it pulls on whiskers on occasion.Thinking of getting one of these in 10mm, to share mags with my M&P 2.0
I spent some time behind the trigger of one in 9mm; my only negative is they look funny.
