PHOENIX - Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is urging Governor Napolitano to request the withdrawal of Arizona National Guard troops from Iraq.

Her request was made in a letter she delivered today to the governor's office.

She cited the potential danger of wildfires as well as a loss of firefighters and law enforcement officers as reasons the state is suffering from the loss of National Guard presence and equipment.

The governor's spokeswoman Jeanine L'Ecuyer (luh-CUR') accepted Sheehan's letter on Napolitano's behalf.

She told Sheehan the governor will most likely read it tomorrow when she returns.

L'Ecuyer says it's unclear whether the governor would actually have the power to withdraw troops. :

Sheehan lost her son in Iraq.

She's been the face of the anti-war movement since she camped out in front of President Bush's Crawford, Texas, home. This just keep's getting nuttier and loopy... :cuckoo:

Someone really needs to tell Cindy what the military is organized to do.
