Hegseth - Same Physical Standards for Men and Women for all Combat Roles

Women could take steroids to increase muscle mass and be very good in combat situations.

I have yet to see anyone even attempt to give a good reason why women should have a separate set of standards

Saying it might discourage women from joining is not a good reason

This woman is combat ready.

The trouble with that, of course, is the mental instability steroids can cause. We don't want any soldier going nuts on the battlefield.

Going nuts on the battlefield is what soldiers do.

Steroids depress the liver and increase the toxicity of combat cocktails. She won't be good in a combat situation, she'll be very ill, or, more likely, dead.

They could take them under a doctor's supervision.

They could take them under a doctor's supervision.
The doctors are very expensive in the USA, that's why they don't have enough of them in the Army, and even lesser in trenches. So, either you keep her near hospital in the deep back (and then there is no need in battle cocktails at all), either you sent a high qualificated (and highly expensive) doctor in trenches. And for the price of a doctor you can hire at least five more or less healthy men.

Nonsense

Women need to muscle up to be effective in combat.

Bigger muscles demands Role 4 medical support.

And no, if you don't want to make a "bad man" out of a "good woman" you'd better gather girls in separate units (with lighter equipment and armor) and use them where they can demonstrate their better sides - first of all, in recon or sabotage missions

as snipers:

or, in modern warfare operators of UAVs.

Different physical standards for men and women in the U.S. military have existed for a long time. BUT, there were also combat roles that were male-only.

Then, under Obama, all combat roles were opened to men AND women. BUT, different physical fitness standards for men and women remained.

Today at @DeptofDefense — we fix this. All combat roles are open to men and women BUT they must all meet the same, high standard.

No standards will be lowered AND all combat roles will only have sex-neutral standards. Common sense.

I don't think combat roles for women should exist, but since they do at least make them equal. Good on SecDef.

Having different physical standards for ANY role is a blatant admission that our military is a jobs program.

Well hallelujah though I actually expected this of Pete. Women can still join the military as standards for non combat personnel do not need to be as tough as those guys who go into combat. But if they cannot do what the men can do, the men should not have to accept lowered standards for personnel in combat situations.

The very few women who can qualify for combat roles can still do so. But they will be very rare.

Maybe Hegseth should take a daily sobriety test.

His plan was already tried and failed during Trump 1.0.

WASHINGTON (AP) — After three years of complaints and debate, the Army has scrapped its move to have a physical fitness test that is gender- and age-neutral, and will now allow women and older soldiers to pass while meeting some reduced standards.

The decision comes after a study by the RAND research organization confirmed that men were passing the new six-event fitness test at a much higher rate than women and that older soldiers were also struggling with their scores in the expanded, more difficult test developed in 2019.

The change, however, will affect only the regular fitness test that soldiers take annually. Qualifying for certain Army jobs, particularly more demanding combat positions or specialties such as Ranger school, will continue to require that everyone — regardless of age or gender — must pass the same fitness tests and standards.

Look how skinny they are

The sad part is they’re probably the best fed group of people in the country outside of fat-ass’s inner circle

The average North Korean is probably skeletal thin
