Has Trump ever taken responsibility?

Lets put it this way...

If some, still don't know if President Trump has ever taken responsability......

I guess they will have four more years to find out! :2up: GOD BLESS TRUMP!

What I find telling is, my OP is getting a number of "dislikes" but none of them have come up with a single instance of Trump taking responsibility.

He is responsible for every decision he has made, and he accepts it. He owes you people nothing.

Show me an example of him accepting it then.

Every day. Stop being a disgruntled schoolgirl stamping her feet in a tantrum.

Give the devil his due. I remembered it because it was so stunning.

Sigh....and then he ruins it with this "I’ve said some foolish things, but there is a big difference between words and actions. Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days."

lol I know. But it was there.

When he raised his right hand with his left hand on the Bible on January 20, 2017, he accepted responsibility, for better or for worse. So far he's done a great job.

anybody can raise their hand and say they do. In practical terms? he's a big fat zero.
He's an awful person, and a terrible president. He's done a shit job from day one...
That's your opinion.My answer was a fact.

Total hogwash. He has done a shit job any standards. That is a fact. Your answer is opinion. Nothing more. Nothing less.

At this point, I'm stepping in as a mod - the thread is about whether or not Trump has ever taken responsibility. I provided examples of 3 other presidents who had done so.

Let's discuss the topic please.

Not credit for - he does that all the time, but RESPONSIBILITY for something?

Ronald Reagan:
Ronald Reagan’s acceptance of responsibility in the Iran-Contra Affair in April 1987 when Trump was about to turn 40. Reagan took to the airwaves and revealed his role in the deal that used Nicaragua as the conduit for U.S. arms that were traded for Iranian-held hostages, something Reagan previously had denied. “There are reasons why it happened, but no excuses,” Reagan said. “It was a mistake. I undertook the original Iran initiative in order to develop relations with those who might assume leadership in a post-Khomeini government.” As with Kennedy, the public who genuinely liked Reagan accepted his apology and a potential impeachment was averted. His popularity also returned, scoring him a 64% approval by the time he left office two years later.

John F Kennedy:
John Kennedy’s acceptance of his role in the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion in April 1961 when Donald was nearly 15. The CIA-run operation, begun under the Eisenhower Administration, resulted in the capture of over 1,200 insurgents and ultimately the strengthening of the nascent Castro regime. Kennedy blamed himself for approving the operation and in public held himself solely accountable. "There's an old saying that victory has a hundred fathers and defeat is an orphan ... Further statements, detailed discussions, are not to conceal responsibility because I'm the responsible officer of the Government.” The public liked what they saw from the young president and gave him a pass. Later Kennedy joked that if he had known how his poll numbers would have soared – into the 80s – he might have called for the invasion to occur sooner.

Barak Obama:
President Obama, by his own admission, failed badly during the rollout of Obamacare in fall 2013, more grievously due to the failures of HealthCare.gov. But he took responsibility and fixed it, launching an unprecedented number of outside programmers and tech specialists to overhaul the site and get it in working order. "I take full responsibility for making sure it gets fixed ASAP,” Obama said at the time. And so he did.

Here are a few other things Obama took responsibility for while in office:

Donald Trump:

I'm not so sure he accepted responsibility. If he did, then, why does he constantly blame everyone else?
He calls a spade a spade and weenies don't like it.

Acceptance of responsibility, but with no consequences, is pretty worthless. Don't you think?

Did Obama take responsibility for lying to Americans about their healthcare, or for using the irs to punish his opponents, or for fast and furious, or for allowing China to play the us for a chump, or for creating a deep state to unseat a duly elected president. Stop with the nitpicking equivocations. Trump takes responsibility for killing Soleimani, for getting the tax bill through, for getting out of the Paris accords and the Iran deal, for sounding the alarm on China, for prison reform, for a great economy, and for leadership in the corona crisis. Tell me what Nancy Pelosi and Dems can take responsibility for that truly helps Americans.

I pointed out examples for Obama, Reagan, and Kennedy - and I'm sure there are other examples for other presidents.

I can find no example of Trump taking responsibility for something. What you are calling "responsibility" is "credit for" - when things go wrong, has he ever accepted responsibility?

Kennedy - Bay of Pigs
Reagan - Iran Contra
Obama - poor roll out of the ACA

Well, I do remember him saying he was sorry for the way he talked on the bus when the Access Hollywood tape got leaked.

Why would anybody be sorry?

Good point. He actually didn't say he was sorry, did he. But he did try to weasel out of it once the heat died down.
He DID say he was sorry. It's on the vid. Jimminy Crickets, Pogo. I was just answering the OP. The least you can do is accept the truth of that simple fact.

Yes, we did that. And then, he tried to weasel out of it suggesting it wasn't his voice on the tape. That didn't grow legs and he dropped it. Did you know the entire episode was on video? The camera crew, the first guys to get off the bus, were sitting there filming Rump and Bush sitting on the left side of the bus. You can see their mouths moving. In spite of that Rump tried to weasel out if it saying it wasn't him. Just like Tim Apple.

I guess the point being, when you take responsibility it's supposed to be permanent, not something you just wish-away because you'd prefer something had never happened.

Acceptance of responsibility, but with no consequences, is pretty worthless. Don't you think?

Depends. Consequences can be hard to define - for example, consequences can be political, etc. But - I think what is more important - is whether accepting responsibility for it leads to changing something as a result. Learning from it. Not just apologizing.

If the question had been, "Has Rump ever apologized for anything?" that would be the one (and only) answer.

Issuing a statement and then trying to undo it, thaaaaaaaaat's not really taking responsibility. That's more like settling out-of-court and then crowing "we took no responsibility".

Yes he did issue an apology for that. But even then, he tried to suggest it wasn't his voice on the tape. Even though the whole thing was on video as well as audio. Just like everything else, tried to weasel out of it. Just like mocking Serge Kovaleski when the reporter wouldn't lie for him, and then when that wouldn't play tried to deny he was mocking his arthrogryposis.

Yeah... at first he denied he said it and even said the tape was doctored. Taking responsibility after LYING about it is not exactly worthy.
thats simple,,,

hes up there everyday trying while youre sitting in the back of the bus complaining on the internet,,,

So you can't provide a single answer? Just diversionary insults?

If it's every day it should be easy to provide an example.

Not one of the instances you gave had consequences attached. None of the perps suffered one iota so in my mind all that happened was they said "yeah, I did it, now fuck off".

Not exactly comforting.
