More to the point.. what war?

It was moreless the resolution granted to lbj, giving him war power with virtually no oversight, 10's of thousands dead, and no direct end game.
It really was Johnson's war. Kennedy tended to ignore Vietnam. I think if Kennedy had lived, he would not expanded the war as Johnson did.

I think JFK would have marched down the same path as LBJ. So would Nixon. The anti-communism drumbeat was hard to ignore. So were the "just give us 100,000 more troops and we can win" pleas
Being soft on Communism was not a popular position. Neither would standing by as South Vietnam went communist
