Has Fascism come to America?

Why yes. It has. MAGA!

Seriously though, I never thought I would see this.

Source: What Is Fascism?

“Many experts agree that fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of the nation over the individual. This model of government stands in contrast to liberal democracies that support individual rights, competitive elections, and political dissent.

In many ways, fascist regimes are revolutionary in nature. They advocate for the overthrow of existing systems of government and the persecution of political enemies. However, such regimes are also highly conservative in their championing of traditional values.

And although fascist leaders typically claim to support the everyman, in reality, their regimes often align with powerful business interests.
”

Sound familiar? It should.

Existing forms of government are being overthrown through the destruction of our institutions with the Executive usurping powers traditionally given to Congress and openly defying the courts when checked.

Note the last line: aligned with powerful business interests: Musk (who is raking in millions in government contracts), Bezos, Zuckerberg.

Characteristics of Facism:

Extreme Nationalism - check.

Fascist leaders believe in the supremacy of certain groups of people based on characteristics such as race, religion, ethnicity, and nationality.

Cult of personality - check.

Fascist regimes cultivate images of their leaders as great figures to be loved and admired. This cult of personality is often perpetuated through mass media and propaganda. …The Pope chalked up Il Duce’s survival of assassination attempts to divine intervention, adding to Mussolini’s mystique.

How did Fascists come to power? This is interesting, because it tracks what has actually been happening.

“It wasn’t overnight. History laid the groundwork – a pattern of liberal decay.

First, fascist parties gained a foothold in government through initially democratic means. However, over time, the party consolidated power, and ultimately secured their dictatorship.”

Note: Trump is seeking ways for a 3rd term and a Congressman is creating a bill to create a path to a 3rd term that only applies to Trump’s situation.
I stopped reading at the following, which doesn't fit. Never understood that about you left-witches, you guys say anything and decorate inside your tiny heads that its reality.

"“Many experts agree that fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of the nation over the individual."

So…Stage 3 and 4 (same source for the general information).

Stage 3: Gaining power via right-wing partnerships.

Because we effectively only have two parties, this isn’t happening in the way it would in a parliamentary government system. However, we do see how partnerships within the different caucus’ of the Republican Party have facilitated the consolidation of the MAGA wing (the Trumpification of the Republican Party).

Stage 4: Using power to dominate institutions

This is what is playing out right now in Trump’s Administration: weaponizing his administration to go after universities, cultural institutions, NGO’s and the apparatus of the federal government itself.

“As the Fascist Party gained more power, many feared civil war if Mussolini were denied power.”

Jan 6th attack on the Capitol when Trump lost in 2020, populist threats of a “civil war” if Trump lost in 2024.

“The Nazis, on the other hand, took total control over government and society. Hitler removed all non-Nazis from government shortly after becoming chancellor in 1933. He would go on to pass laws stripping Jews of citizenship and expelling anti-Nazi professors from universities.”

Here we have Trump’s massive gutting of the Civil Service with the express purpose of replacing career (apolitical) public servants with politically aligned appointees who pass a loyalty test.

In addition, retaliatory actions against those in select jobs (DEI and anything remotely construed as DEI).

Using power to dominate national arts and cultural centers such as the Kennedy Center and Smithsonian Museums and other traditionally non-political institutions and imposing a political mandate on what can exhibited and how history can be told, explicitly erasing certain groups from history, recognition or existence in our historical narrative.

Using governmental power and the DoJ to attack independent institutions of higher learning and pressuring them to conform to the MAGA ideology, abolish entire departments, arrest students, restrict protests, academic freedom and free speech.

While the government is not (yet) instituting anything like the Nuremberg Laws, there are worrisome trends occurring:

Attack on immigrants – both legal and illegal. This is low hanging fruit. Essentially grabbing them off the streets and rapidly sending them to detainment in some of our worst prisons (Louisiana) or externally such as El Salvador (known to torture) circumventing due process requirements and laws with fait accompli actions that can be difficult to undo. In particular, legal immigrants are being jailed and deported for exercising free speech rights.

In the words of one Yale professor who is moving to Canada: “… if you can’t speak out loudly if you’re not an American citizen, when will they come for the American citizens? It’s inevitable.”

What doesn’t fit and why?

Your post said "persecution of political enemies."
Regimes like Stalin killed millions, many of whom were not political due to their politics but class, ethnic group, religion, etc.

And yet, who has been committing all the violence and crime? Oh, that's right. Antifa and BLM.
You leave out significant violence from other groups. Antifa was way overblown in relation to their actual numbers and involvement and aren’t aligned with any particular political party and BLM was not a political movement but a social justice one so is really not applicable.

The poor Dims have done 8 years of pearl clutching in the Trump era. "Existential Threat to Democracy," "Russian Collusion," "Dictator!!"

And now we have "Fascism."

Nobody believes their bullshit anymore. It's stupid. STFU. :D
So counter the points I made instead of nya nya nya yer wrong!

No. Except by Democrats aka DemoFascists.

Fascist are what Hochul is doing with her $370 million gun bill.

Fascists always want to grab guns; and ammunition as a backdoor, thinking they're cute by doing that.

Trump’s is in fact a fascist regime – authoritarian, anti-democratic, hostile to the rule of law with contempt for democratic norms and institutions.

That sounds like the Democrats, except for the "extreme nationalism"
Republicans are patriotic, not "extreme nationalists.
1744075064876.webp

That isn't patriotism. That is extreme nationalism. Those are republicans, MAGA voters.
Words do have objective meaning.

I like you but, I am sorry, your point is stupid. No, Trump is not a Fascist, Existential Threat to Democracy, or a Russian agent. Just give it a rest, okay. It has passed boredom and is now just sad. :(

What doesn’t fit and why?
We could start at extreme nationalism, and end with the individual bullshit.

Extreme nationalism implies EXTREME shit, we're not. It's pure subjective BS, and you so want to believe it free of real proof.

I don't see individuals losing their rights; you guys sure like to cry otherwise. Where were you when they mandated covid shots, for appearances, power and $?

How about when illegals and foreigners are preferred over US citizens? US citizens are made up of millions having "individual rights".

Kicker it's the Demonicrats that love war. But yeah, let's pretend Trump is Demoncracked should it help you sleep nights.
