MILWAUKEE (AP) — Would a Harley still be a Harley if it didn't have that out-of-my-way rumble and those fat, hydrocarbon-belching exhausts?

Motorcycle enthusiasts are about to find out as Harley-Davidson rolls out an electric bike — a sleek, futuristic version that sounds like a jet airplane taking off. Harley-Davidson testing electric motorcycles - seattlepi.com

Coincidentally, I happened across a couple videos of the Lit C-1 - a gyroscopically balanced, 2-wheeled car that is being prepared for production now in California. It is a technicallly amazing vehicle that cannot be tipped over, and provides full-body protection (no helmet required), within reasonable limits.

The one thing not mentioned is whether you can lean into turns, or the gyros will hold it upright when you are turning.

As for the Harley, you can bet they will create some sort of "manly noise" for their electric bike before it goes into production. It will be billed as a safety necessity.

Harley riders are into the look and sound of a Harley, take those 2 elements of the bike out of the equation and you wont be selling too many Harleys/

I think an electric motorcycle makes far more sense than an electric car.

The range would be much better and if they don't limit the speed or acceleration it would be insanely fast.

Harley had it's ups and downs financially. The manufacturing was substandard when the bowling alley company AMF owned HD. Toady there are many opposed cylinder bikes that have all the looks, styling and probably better reliability than Harley but the company relies on legend to sell the product. If they go electric they might as well turn into Vespa and make scooters.
