Majority of people in the world are too young and don’t remember, we’re not born yet, or never even heard we went to the moon.

I remember watching the landing with my Grandmother who was born before cars were ever in San Francisco, remembered the SF quake, and the news of the Wright brothers.

I was 10 at the time so it is etched in my memory. First telescope too.

Actually he had everything to do with it. Ike didn’t grasp the importance of rockets and funding was minimal. JFK understood.

The self described "historians" tend to credit presidents for the accomplishments that happen during their administrations whether or not they had anything to do with it. It's the way the system works. Give 'em hell Harry Truman got credit for ending WW2 with the Bomb when he had no idea of what the hell he thing was when he became president when FDR died. Barry Hussein took credit for the killing of notorious Bin Ladin terrorist because it happened on his watch. Strangely enough it seems that political hatred trumped history when most kids grew up with the idea that JFK had something to do with the moon landings. It was Nixon. The moon landings happened during the Nixon administration.
