The Church of Satan on Halloween:

Halloween is traditionally a time when the obscure portal into the realms of darkness, death and the supernatural is thrown open. Demons and spirits have free reign for one night, cavorting, enticing us into their revels and revealing glimpses into the future. As a child drawn to darker passions from birth, I always delighted in the fear and fantasies of Halloween. It gives even the most mundane people the opportunity to taste wickedness for one night. They have a chance to dance with the Devil, either stumbling, tittering and nervous in the arms of the Black Prince, or boldly, ravenously sharing in the sensual excesses and fright of others on this magical, unholy night. Now, birth and death have, for me, become inextricably interwoven into this day. Our son, Xerxes, was born to us on November 1st, the Day of the Dead in Latin cultures, a time reserved for feasting and communing with long-dead ancestors. We celebrated Xerxes’ birthday at midnight on Halloween for three years. And then our High Priest—my love and Master—died on October 29th, 1997, three days before Xerxes’ fourth birthday. As painful as the last two years have been for Xerxes and I, it seems fitting that Dr. LaVey should have died when he did, when the barrier between life and death is only a paper-thin membrane. Anything can happen on such a night.

The Witch's Halloween: 7 Rituals To Celebrate Samhain

There’s no better time to get in touch with our own magical practice than Halloween, or for some of us, Samhain. The veil between the worlds is thin. Fires are lit to help wandering spirits on their way, altars and offerings are set up to honor the gods, goddesses, and ancestors that have passed on. It is time to tidy up loose ends on goals we're striving towards and celebrate all that we've accomplished. We get ready for the months of introspection ahead and the cycle continues.

With that, I share with you my favorite rituals to practice on this holiday.

  1. Set Up A Samhain Altar

If you’re new to these witchy/pagan traditions and don’t have a permanent altar in place, you can easily set up a table to leave in place on the 31st and the 3 days after Samhain. Decorate the altar with symbols of late fall, such as:

  • Skulls, skeletons, grave rubbings, ghosts
  • Harvest food such as pumpkins, squash, root vegetables
  • Nuts and berries, breads
  • Dried leaves and acorns
  • A cornucopia filled with an abundance of fruit and veggies
  • Mulled cider, wine, or mead
  1. Make an Ancestors Altar

Honor your deceased family members with this ceremony. Gather photographs, heirlooms and other mementos of deceased family, friends, or even pets. Arrange them on a table, dresser, or other surface, along with several votive candles. Light the candles in their memory; while you do so, speak their names out loud and express well wishes and thank them for being part of your life. Sit quietly and pay attention to what you experience. Note any messages you receive in your journal. This Ancestors Altar can be created just for Samhain or kept year round

So,... Are you planning on telling me what does any of this have to do with pumpkins, costumes, candy, parties, and hayrides or do you just want to rant?

Jesus used to enjoy Trick or Treating

But he hated that lady that used to give black licorice

Yes!! Finally somebody said it!! Whether or not you choose to celebrate Halloween is between you and God not some random strangers over the Internet. Same thing with watching scary movies and Harry Potter.

Why am I posting this here then if I don't care what ya'all say? To prove that I'm not alone in this thinking and that there are even churches who participate in trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treating as she puts it. Plus I know we have mudwhistle on here who is another Christian Harry Potter/Halloween/scary movie fan.

So if you feel convicted in celebrating Halloween don't, but just because you feel convicted with it doesn't mean all Christians do. Now since this thread is posted in zone 1, I trust we can all have a civil discussion without flaming even to all those who disagree with this statement as feel free to voice your opinion but please note you won't be changing mine.

Thank you to whoever edited my OP!! 😁

It's a day to honor Satan

Dressing that day up with "fun" doesn't whitewash sin
You're gonna do what you're gonna do. You make a mockery of your new username

With their lips they honor Me but their hearts are far from mr

Where's the sin? How does dressing up in costumes, partying, getting candy, carving pumpkins, and going on hayrides honoring Satan?

Do what you're gonna do and quit asking me things you can easily learn on your own

Your heart is in the occult and you don't want to put it behind you. You will get no new knowledge from me -- pearls before swine

As a Christian I grew up observing the fun and wacky and entertaining concept of Halloween and was never shamed by anybody because I did. And I am pretty sure that there was no aspect of the fun and wholesome Halloween that we observed that tempted a single kid into dabbling in the occult or whatever demonic influences exist out there.

And I was blessed to grow up in a time when there wasn't all the meanness and cruelty out there. The whole neighborhood got into the spirit of it and we were treated to homegrown apples, peaches, pears, homemade candies, cookies, and the most wonderful treat--homemade popcorn balls. Halloween parties were wholesome and fun with parents making sure the kids had a blast.

We never saw it as a pagan holiday either. It was taught to us as "All Hallow's Eve", the eve of the Christian "All Saints Day" recognizing and remembering the saints and martyrs of the Christian faith.

I don't care for the scary movies, especially the bloody slasher ones. But I do own the entire set of Harry Potter movies and enjoy the creativity of them as well as the principles of ethics and morality that they teach despite the setting of the unreal that does not exist. except in pleasurable imagination.

I do not judge anyone who chooses not to participate in Halloween or other such imaginary things. Nor do I judge anyone who does.

Each to their own. But the problems I think are not the holiday or the imagination or whatever but a mean and hateful culture that has been allowed to infiltrate the process.

As Christians we should try to change that as much as we can.

The only “sin” about Halloween is people who give out black licorice and candy corn

After I was first saved, I was shamed into not celebrating trick or treat, and would not let my kids participate, we did however go to a fall festival at church where they got more candy than they would have trick or treating. it isn't like when I was a kid where we would go crazy running house to house while parents stayed home. We go with my son and our granddaughter now, we celebrate her having fun, and getting candy. I personally love scary movies, but do try to steer clear of demonic type, or possession movies.

Im a Christian who celebrates Halloween

I would draw the line at celebrating a so called black mass but trick and treat costumes candies and scary movies are ok

Happy Halloween
"You shall not worship the Lord your God as the nations around you worship their gods "

Seems pretty clear from God, doesn't it Mort? Yet here you are calling yourself "Christian" while proclaiming your love for the high holy day of the Church of Satan

Only if that is how he celebrates it right, I mean if his kid trick or treats you won't judge him right?

But im saying though i dont worship Satan or other Gods on this day and thats basically where i would draw the line like celebrating a black mass

I was shamed into not celebrating trick or treat
You we "shamed"??
That means your heart was with the pagan practices. When Iearned the truth about Halloween, I left those things like filthy underwear

The warning about Lot's wife comes to mind

But Roadrunner will be glad to know she has "Christians" like Foxfire, Mort and yourself encouraging her to not give up her love for the occult and flirting with demons
