It's pretty obvious that the earth is warming.
Melting glaciers, melting ice caps, and rising ocean temperatures don't lie.
I love the stupidity of the right, however. Are they ever right about anything?
• El Niño Contributed Largely to Rise in Temperatures• Average Temperatures Rose to 16.9c
"The unusually warm summer temperatures for much of the world's oceans were due to El Niño, the periodic warming of the Pacific. If El Niño strengthens, global temperatures are likely to set new records, the report said. So far, 2009 has been the fifth warmest year on record."
What cause El Nino then?:
"In an El Niño, the winds pushing that water around get weaker. As a result, some of the warm water piled up in the west slumps back down to the east, and not as much cold water gets pulled up from below. Both these tend to make the water in the eastern Pacific warmer, which is one of the hallmarks of an El Niño.
But it doesn't stop there. The warmer ocean then affects the winds--it makes the winds weaker! So if the winds get weaker, then the ocean gets warmer, which makes the winds get weaker, which makes the ocean get warmer ... this is called a positive feedback, and is what makes an El Niño grow."
So I ask you, does carbon emissions effect wind?
Wind - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Globally, the two major driving factors of large scale winds (the atmospheric circulation) are the differential heating between the equator and the poles (difference in absorption of solar energy leading to buoyancy forces) and the rotation of the planet."
I am going to go out on a limb and say the Earth is not accelerating due to carbon emissions. That leaves atomspheric circulation. That is driven by the difference between the heating of the equator and the poles. If the poles are getting warmer, then the difference should be less, meaning less wind. In any case carbon emissions don't effect wind which is the driving force behind El Nino, which in turn makes the ocean warmer.
