Guccifer 2.0 unmasking makes it a lot harder for Trump to deny collusion

The hacker who stole emails from the Democratic National Committee was identified Thursday as a member of Russia’s elite GRU intelligence agency, according to a Daily Beast report.

Known as Guccifer 2.0, the hacker claimed he was from Romania and had no connection to the Kremlin when he passed DNC emails to WikiLeaks months before the 2016 election.

But a single slip-up, when he failed to activate his VPN client before logging on, left an IP address on a server in France, which U.S. investigators traced back to the GRU’s headquarters on Grizodubovoy Street, Moscow.

Yes, and Roger Stone has some splaining to do.

From the OP:

Trump and his allies have consistently disputed the claim that Moscow was behind the DNC hack, particularly Roger Stone, a member of Trump’s inner circle, who claimed to be in contact with the hacker during the campaign. Stone even released chat messages he exchanged with Guccifer 2.0 last year, in an attempt to debunk claims of a Kremlin link.

Stone was already reportedly in Mueller’s crosshairs before it came to light Thursday that he was admittedly in contact with a Russian intelligence agent during the campaign.

NOTHING BURGER!

Means nothing.

A division of the Central Intelligence Agency stockpiled hacking techniques culled from other hackers, giving the agency the ability to leave behind the "fingerprints" of the outside hackers when it broke into electronic devices, the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks alleges as it released thousands of documents Tuesday.

WikiLeaks says it acquired the documents from a source who wished to propel a debate about whether CIA’s hacking capabilities exceed the agency's legal powers. If authentic, the documents appear to show that the CIA's hacking division has developed software that enables the agency to break into smartphones, computers and even turn Internet-connected televisions into microphones.

The documents also suggest that one of the agency’s divisions – the Remote Development Branch’s UMBRAGE Group – may have been cataloguing hacking methods from outside hackers, including in Russia, that would have allowed the agency to mask their identity by employing the method during espionage.

“With UMBRAGE and related projects the CIA cannot only increase its total number of attack types, but also misdirect attribution by leaving behind the ‘fingerprints’ of the groups that the attack techniques were stolen from,” Wikileaks said in a statement.

So a Russian hacker got into the DNC email, and let the world know just how corrupt those sycophants are.

What’s that have to do with Trump? Nothing....

Actually, this is easily explained. Donald Trump and all the people around him are amazingly stupid. They're so stupid they were duped by the Russians. So stupid, they couldn't have colluded with the Russians even if they wanted to. They would have screwed it all up!

Guccifer 2.0 unmasking makes it a lot harder for Trump to deny collusion

"The sources did say the U.S. investigation into Guccifer 2.0 had been taken over by special counsel Robert Mueller, a move sure to rattle Trump campaign staff.

"That Russia interfered in the U.S. election is widely accepted, and there is growing evidence that some members of Trump’s campaign team had contact with people linked to the Kremlin ahead of the vote.

"However, confirmation of the long-held suspicion of U.S. intelligence officials that Guccifer 2.0 is a Russian spy brings the notion of collusion into sharper relief.

"Trump and his allies have consistently disputed the claim that Moscow was behind the DNC hack, particularly Roger Stone, a member of Trump’s inner circle, who claimed to be in contact with the hacker during the campaign.

"Stone even released chat messages he exchanged with Guccifer 2.0 last year, in an attempt to debunk claims of a Kremlin link."

"Collusion" may not apply as well as "conspiracy" when it comes to Trump's long history with corrupt Russians.

DNC hacker Guccifer 2.0 is reportedly a member of Russian military intelligence

This could be very big. Stone has always said Guccifer was just some "dude." It turns out that Guccifer is a Russian agent. It also turns out that Roger Stone had multiple contacts with Guccufer during the 2016 campaign.

Remember when Stone boasted that it would soon be "Podesta's time in the barrel” Perhaps he knew that because he coordinated it with Guccifer 2.0. Remember when Nunberg said he thought that the investigators who interviewed him were going after Stone? Stone is the link. He was the go between for the trump campaign and Guccifer 2.0. BAZINGA!

I could be very wrong on this, but it sure seems that the identification of Guccifer 2.0 and the admission by Stone that he was in touch with him has really sent Mueller into a specific direction.

Maybe that is why the Liar in Chief is getting rid of of the moderates and replacing them with warmongers, conspiracy theorist and grenade throwers. He knows Mueller has figured out his game and is coming after him. He is intent on creating a grand deversion away from Russia, whether that is a war or a cultural upheaval.

If this assumption is correct, he will put pressure on Stone to admit he had a conversation with trump on Guccifer 2.0. If he did, it is over for trump.
