Greenland would DOUBLE our access to rare earths. Three of the other six sources richer than us are our enemies. Vietnam is right near China and Russia. Australia is way south far away. Brazil already sidea with China. All that leaves is India on the other side of the world.

Greenland offers more than rare earths in our backyard. They have a valuable strategic location.

Greenland's shrinking ice sheet and ice shelves, driven by climate change, are exposing mineral deposits, including rare earth metals. The cost of mining them is declining significantly. This could well be Trump's motive for an invasion. Since Greenlanders have no defense, they don't stand a change of protecting themselves from Trump.

This aggression came without any provocation from Denmark. It started with expressing the need for Greenlands minerals and is now justified by talk about security.


The US position is clear in this matter.

The VP of USA was just there to say that it’s the desire of Donald Trump to acquire Greenland and this desire has to be met.

This is what is happening, this is the course of action US is officially taking.

And actually, seeing Americans joke about it, downplaying it or trying to explain what “he really means” is just adding to the uncertainty. And as soon as people, like you, get bored or annoyed they just have to mention the mighty war machine you US is in the possession of, explaining how futile it would be to resist you.

31 million barrels won't even pay for the cost of the drilling and the setup...not worth chasing.

We have many times more resources indigenously than Greenland does though certainly the rare earth minerals are an attractive economic draw.

First and foremost however Greenland is strategically located for the geopolitical upheaval going forward. They will not remain independent no matter what their hopes or dreams are. They are right in the middle of the next round of territorial disputes and have absolutely no way of becoming any kind of noticeable presence in the face of that event.
