Grandson starting in a catholic school today

He did go to one of the new whizzy academies until last week. They are a million in debt and have decided to give up.
Now he is starting in a catholic school today.
I dont know if they take religion seriously there. Or if priests and nuns do the teaching. That brings further worries.
I went toa Church of Wales school but the church part was low key and idnt interfere with our education.
Do catholic schools take it seriously or just get on with fiddling the kids ?
