Thank you Harry. Dave Paulides recommends taking a personal locator beacon with GPS when hiking or going to a remote location.
when me and a friend went hiking down into it years ago they had resting areas spaced out all the way to the bottom and those areas had phones in them that you could call the rangers to come down and pick you up if you could not hike back up....they would come down with mules to get you and it would cost like 100 bucks per person....and it was only like a mile and a half to the camp ground at the bottom....but it was all up hill going back....going down no problem...they also had signs in the beginning telling you this...

Dave Paulides also recommends telling someone exactly where you are going and exactly when you will be back home just in case you get injured or lost and that person can get help if you do not get home at the scheduled time. The personal locator beacon can pinpoint your location for Search And Rescue if you need help getting out or getting home.
