A new bill proposed by three Democrats - Reps. Mike Thompson of California, John Larson of Connecticut and Lauren Underwood of Illinois - could be worth $300 each month to some families if the price of a gallon stays above $4.
'Americans are feeling the impact at the pump of Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, and right now we must work together on commonsense policy solutions to ease the financial burden that my constituents are feeling,' Thompson said in a news release.
'The Putin Price Hike is putting strain on our economy, and I am proud to be working with Reps. Larson and Underwood to introduce this legislation to provide middle-class Americans with monthly payments to ease the financial burden of this global crises.'
Their plan follows the model of COVID economic impact payments - offering $100 for single filers earning less than $75,000, plus $100 for each dependent.

Comment:
Democrats are blaming gasoline prices on Putin, not on Biden's oil production cut.
Printing more money will just make inflation worse.

Step One ... make an essential commodity outrageously expensive through manipulating the market

Step Two ... bribe potential voters by offering to give them the commodity you made expensive using taxpayer money.

Step Three ... Hold on to power.

So they're going to give free money to people who drive electric vehicles too?

By subsidizing the purchase of electric cars and using taxpayer money to install free charging stations, they already are.

Bribery under the disguise of "saving the planet".

Environmentalism is a watermelon ... It's only green on the outside. Inside is pure red.

You really have to laugh at some of the crazy stuff politicians say and fools believe. It is Russias fault. It is Trumps fault. Funny how the vegetable in the White House claimed he would always be in charge and not blame others but has blamed every failure on everyone else.
Now the democrats want the country to go dapper in debt because they failed to understand basic economics but realize that the American people are not going to vote for them because of it.

More like....

Step One - Buy LOTS and LOTS of rope.

Step Two - Hand nooses from all the lamp posts surrounding the Capital and the White House.

Step Three - Put a Democrat in each noose, showing that the people aren't going to put up with it anymore.

Just like the Obama years, everything was, "Bush's Fault". 3 years in they were still blaming Bush for everything he screwed up.

Step 4, you are and all who participated are found guilty of Premeditated 1st Degree Murder and get either life without parole of the Federally imposed Death Penalty.

Not the best plan, I understand the frustration and motivation but it's still not a good plan.

Just more redistribution of wealth, just for a vote.

Gas prices doubled before the invasion rising steadily from the day Biden was elected because of his enerty policies.

War in Ukraine isn't having much of an effect on the oil market, but certainly at least some of the rise since the invasion began is related.

If you look at a graph of oil prices there's onl been a slight change in the slope of the line since he took office showing a minor rise once the invasion began.

You folks need to stop accepting as gospel everything this administration and their media cohorts are puking up. They are both right on part with RT tv.

And they are conditioning the public for sit-on-their-butt-socialism

WTF does the pandemic have to do with oil prices?
When it first started oil crashed because of all the shutdowns and lockdowns.

Putting folks back to work and giving them more freedom to roam both increased demand but with still reduced demand gas more than doubled due to Biden's anti fossil fuel (an industry he flat promised to destroy) policies.

That all happened well before the invasion so obviously the invasion couldn't have possibly driven that rise.

We can probably attribute as much as maybe 80% of the rise since the the invasion but that's a fraction of what happened prior.

Just looked, we're still abut 5Bn barrels below pre Covid despite the recovery. Demand shock has not been an issue, it was a very steady rise as demand increased, and with fears of Biden trying to keep his promise.

From the wholesalers to the drillers and frackers they all look months, even years ahead at the total picture including what wacko in the WH is going to try and destroy the industry again and that always gets factored in.

How much of this rise since the invasion can reasonably be attributed to Putin? That which we see represented in the slight increase of the slope of the line over the last 5 months.

Thank you Mr. MOTO. I was not asking you. She made the claim so it is her responsibility to try and justify her nonsense.

If you want to have a private discussion use the PM feature and quit being a jackass.

She still has an opportunity to fail especially since the facts have already been shown.
