Gov. Nixon Calls For ‘Vigorous Prosecution’ Of Darren Wilson

Cannot recall him. Probably not going to be able to impeach him. Just goes to show, never trust a Democrat that the media calls a "moderate." All Democrats are far left liberal to the core.

A political "moderate" is really a liberal who is trying to hide it...either for a silly sense that that makes them superior to other people who are conservative/libertarian/tea party, or because revealing that they are really a liberal will hurt their quest for power and control over other people...

The people who only pay attention to politics the morning they decide to vote think " moderate" sounds nice...

Between the persecution of Gov. Perry and this, the Dems are looking very Nazi circa 1938 these days

Yup, it's really damaging to ask why police officers are shooting unarmed people in the middle of the street.

It's okay to ask, as long as you have an open mind and can accept the news you don't want to hear, that in this case the officer may have been justified.

I doubt you're up for the job.

Well, no, I'm pretty sure I am. WHen the police engage in a week-long coverup and present misleading information, and they have a long history of antagonism with this community, the burden of proof is kind of on them.

Sorry the Constitution gets in the way of instant convictions.

If this guy gets in front of a jury, he's going to need a priest, not a lawyer.

The governor wants the prosecutor to take the heat, and the prosecutor wants to pass the buck to a Grand Jury.
One way or another though, the cop is going to at least be charged, IMO.

Well the officer will certainly be in front of a police shooting review board of some sort, that's SOP. And he'll likely be in a civil suit trial eventually as well. But I don't see grounds for a criminal trial at this point.

I fear that the officer might not get a fair hearing because of fear that the community would go bat shit crazy and
burn the town to the ground..

I wish they were hiding, but you're right out in the open, Joe.

Causing great damage.

The problem is when he calls for a prosecution instead of an investigation. Typical pandering White Democrat.

What cover up? What misinformation?

I don't think it's in dispute.

Let's review- they refused to release the name of the officer for nearly a week.
They claimed that he was responding to a robbery, when in fact, no robbery had been reported.
They claimed that a tape shows a "Strong arm robbery" by showing select frames, instead of the entire film in context, which shows him paying for the cigars.

mmk you are twisting the facts to fit your biased opinion.

I'll give you one: FPD feared for Wilson's life and did not want to give out his name.

However, the other two are out-n-out lies.

Two negative, they NEVER claimed Wilson was responding to a robbery. Wilson was at a sick call in the area (helping a 2 month old baby who wasn't breathing while coughing) and left that call at 12:00 and encountered Brown. A 911 call came in to dispatch about the robbery (I believe that was at 11:44) and the officer responding to that had a description of the suspects and it went out over the radio at 11:52, with further details through 11:58.

Johnson, through his attorney, has admitted that the suspects in the video are indeed himself and Brown, and that they took the cigars.

You're sick, because you really wish this was true.

I need a link for that whopper!

I agree with Bush. What cover up? What misinformation? Don't ignore the question!

Even the revrund al sharpton knows he "shoplifted" them. Did you make that lie up all by yourself?

The people should call for a VIGOROUS DENUNCIATION of the governor in the next election. Vote the man out of office. May he never see the inside of an elected office again.

Sounds like this guy has made up his mind, and is disregarding some of the new evidence that points to the officers vindication.

Not content with a regular prosecution or a vigorous investigation, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon said he hopes that Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson will receive a “vigorous prosecution” in the shooting death of Michael Brown on Aug. 9.
“A vigorous prosecution must now be pursued,” Nixon said in a five minute video address posted to his website Tuesday.
“The democratically elected St. Louis county prosecutor and the attorney general of the United States each have a job to do,” said Nixon, a Democrat.
“Their obligation to achieve justice in the shooting death of Michael Brown must be carried out thoroughly, promptly, and correctly,” said Nixon of investigators.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder plans to visit Ferguson on Wednesday to meet with federal law enforcement officials and community leaders. Forty FBI investigators traveled to Ferguson over the weekend to interview witnesses.
Nixon has not directly justified his call for a strong prosecution. He has not indicated that he has any information on the shooting that has not been made public.
Wilson, a six-year police veteran with a clean disciplinary record, has not even been arrested or charged with a crime. A grand jury is set to convene on Wednesday to determine if he will be charged.
Wilson, who is on paid leave during the investigation, has reportedly claimed that he shot Brown after the man hit him in the face and struggled to gain control of his service weapon.
Several eye-witnesses who gave media interviews shortly after the shooting have said that Brown was surrendering with his hands up as Wilson shot him.
Wilson is reportedly claiming the Brown ran towards him before the fatal shots were fired. The interviewed witnesses have claimed that they did not see Brown running at Wilson. An unnamed witness unwittingly captured on video talking about what he saw unfold said that he saw Brown move towards Wilson.
A private autopsy commission by the Brown family determined that he was hit with at least six bullets, two in the head and four on the right arm.
An inconsistent release of information and a heavy-handed police response to demonstrations in Ferguson has led to heavy criticism for police, as well as Nixon.
He was perceived as failing to address the shooting soon enough.
“We have a responsibility to come together to do everything we can for this family, peace for this community, and have the courage to address the problems that have divided us for too long,” Nixon said, citing the problems “of poverty, education, and race.”
Nixon, who said he recently met and prayed with Brown’s mother, called Ferguson “a test.”
“So I ask that we continue to stand together as we work to achieve justice for Michael Brown, restore hope and peace to the streets of Ferguson, and march together toward a future of greater opportunity for all of us.”
“This is hard,” said Nixon. “Nothing about this is simple.”

That new evidence should be brought into a trial for a vigorous defense, no?

Thus far, the policeman in question hasn't even been arrested or charged.

Which, now, has drawn the attention of the Federal Government.
