The people who bought our last house, which sits on a couple of acres tucked back in the woods, has my best and last empty lot that I'd like to sell backed up to them. Seeing the possibilities for problems, when I sold them the property, I had them agree (written onto the offer to purchase) that they couldn't store any "materials" beyond their separate garage, having to keep their exta stuff on their side of the garage so that it couldn't be seen from the street, or from the empty property I still needed to sell. They stacked a lot of stuff against the garage but kept corrugated metal sheets stood up around it to "shield" it from view. Since it was the old "original home" in the middle of the acreage, I built a shadow-box wavy top fence to give everybody including them privacy and some shielding from view in their front.
I also built a privacy fence just like the one in their front, in back so that they and the house to eventually be built there when it sold would both be shielded each from the other's view.
They have torn down the front privacy fence, and now they have backed a huge old travel trailer right back through the trees and up to the property line where the building site on my lot is.
When I do my elliptic exercise I like to look straight out the window from were we moved to in our new downscale home. But now I can see that trailer sitting out there and I can't enjoy doing my exercises. I had to turn my machine around so that it faces a television so I don't have to look out the window. When I look out at it I see a huge obstacle to selling my best piece of unsold property, and a part of my "retirement" financial plan.
I know I have to persuade him to move it, which I haven't done yet, and it raises my frustration levels so that I'm concerned that I'll be too agressive when I do deal with it. I'm going to have to take this guy for a beer some Saturday lunch I guess.
