GOP senator moves to end dual citizenship, says Americans must choose

Okay, but this proposed legislation doesn't address any of those concerns, if they are what I think they are.
No it doesn’t go anywhere near far enough, but it would be a nice little start. Especially since most of the changes I want would require a Constitutional Amendment.

I found this in the news today which I thought was interesting:

"The bill, if passed, could affect members of the president’s own family.

Melania Trump, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2006, “remains a dual citizen of the U.S. and Slovenia, as does her son Barron,” according to Mary Jordan’s 2020 biography The Art of Her Deal.

Jordan reiterated this in a 2024 interview, noting that both Melania and Barron “continue to have joint citizenship.”

In the interview, Jordan said that maintaining Slovenian citizenship offered practical benefits for Barron, including the ability “to work freely in all of Europe much more easily.”

She added that
Melania sought to give her son “more options” and emphasized that he holds a Slovenian passport and speaks Slovenian."
Wait till MAGA gets a load of this!

I didn't see anything about a foreign national holding office in the United States. I was commenting on individuals who simply cannot be content to manage their own lives but instead have a compulsion to try to control what other people can do with their lives.

Anything that other people do that is not unlawful is no one else's business. There are valid reasons that people want to maintain dual citizenship, including perhaps needing a safe place to escape to if things here in the U.S. get a bit too crazy.

Limiting one's freedom of movement is NEVER a good thing.
Wrong, a person, especially when be who hold office has an obligation to put his countrymen and their interests above all others interests, even their own.

Well that’s great, they can live somewhere else. More over why and who has this fear of needing to flee America? What for? What are they doing that might warrant such response?

Really gets the old noggin jogging.

“Freedom of Movement” doesn’t exist, no one has a right to be an interloper, invader, burden, threat, or subversive element anymore then a cancer cell has a “right to life”, not sorry.

Such as?

US, stop playing dumb.
Hey, you wrote IS, but whatever.

But now that you've made it clear that you're talking about US citizens, you're saying that birthright citizenship should be limited to US citizens.

So what makes those US citizens US citizens in the first place so that they can claim birthright citizenship?

Unless I'm mistaken about where exactly you stand on this issue, I'm simply saying that even though you're against dual citizenship, it's okay for certain people you like, like Melania and Barron.
Seeing they hold no office the point is moot.

It has to be applied to people in government , the Judiciary,And the bureaucracy.

For the general population no

All of government.Yes.....local, state, federal, from sea to shining sea

So you're only against dual citizenship for politicians and not the general civilian citizenry?
I mean I am in general, but they have not raised their hand against my intrests so yeah? I have an expectation for them. Ideally year end duel citizenship.

Okay, so no dual citizenship for anybody unless they don't raise their hands against your interest.

I wonder if the Republican plans to end dual citizenship will take all of that into consideration.
