GOP Lawmakers Come Out Against The FCC’s Role In Kimmel Axing.

Uh, guy, it's not libel if it's true, and a Comedy Show is not "the News".

Robinson was from a Mormon Family of Gun Nuts.... he's one of yours.

Sorry, but Kimmel uses the "clown nose on, clown nose off" bullshit to hide behind his profession when it suits him.

Republicans are splitting on FCC Chair Brendan Carr’s pressure tactics. "We all should be very cautious" about regulating speech, one GOP senator told POLITICO.

A handful of prominent Republicans on Capitol Hill said they were worried about the implications of Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr pressuring a TV network to suspend late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

Their comments suggest an emerging split in the GOP over the party’s views on free speech.

We all should be very cautious,” said Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.). “The conservative position is free speech is free speech, and we better be very careful about any lines we cross in diminishing free speech.”

ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely Wednesday over comments he made earlier in the week about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The decision came after Carr warned ABC’s parent company, Disney, on a podcast that there could be consequences if Kimmel stayed on the air.

The right to Freedom of Speech is cast iron *****, live with it!

Except when youre a realtor who writes a note on a recepit.....or someone who tries to go against the government about covid...then its not really cast iron...its more like styrofoam....

I agree that the FCC shouldn't have applied pressure to ABC.

so the Dem's cancel culture is on the other foot now?

the FCC hasn't done anything yet. The head of it said something on a Podcast, and Trump said something.

No actual actions have happened.

nobody said anything about libel

Robinson was radicalized by the left, and increasing at odds with his family....that's what the evidence shows. Keep lying

This was not a comedy show, it was a talk show on broadcast news, this isn't about the tort of libel, it's about federal law, regulating broadcast television

Nope. when the FCC bans Fox for saying we should murder the homeless, then you can get back to me about Kimmel.

So they just made threats, that makes it okay then, because these networks (or the corporations that own them) have proven mere threats usually get them to fold.

This is the problem when your media is owned by about five big corporations.

When the government was influencing social media over COVID no one on the left seemed to care.

At least Trump is doing this in the open, for all to see and judge.

The problem is you think the traditional media still has the sway it once had.

Can't stop the signal.

This is a pathetic excuse.

This is a pathetic excuse.

At least they are doing it out in the open, unlike the Biden admin with social media over COVID doing it in the shadows.

Or other Dems at the State level doing it via banking regulations over gun rights.

When the government was influencing social media over COVID no one on the left seemed to care.

Two big differences. Then, the government was trying to save lives, not protect Trump’s fragile ego.

Two, the government never threatened anyone in social media with any government action.

The government was trying to cover its ass, nothing more.

No, it threatened the people running social media so they could claim no involvement.

Both are worse than the current situation.

Still a pathetic excuse that doesn’t even begin to account for your massive hypocrisy here.

Get back to me if and when they actually do something.

And you might be surprised some of the FCC laws that exist that probably would allow them to take action.

There were no threats against social media.

There are threats against broadcasters.

You have to be pretty ******* delusional to think that it is worse when they weren’t making threats.

They asked social media to do their dirty work, the threat is implicit as the government's role as a regulator.

They also did it behind closed doors, we only learned about it years later.

Yes, the Biden crap was worse.

Trump made threats before the election. You said, well he’s just a citizen and not in government.

Trump makes threats as president. You said, he’s not the commissioner of the FCC.

The FCC commissioner makes threats. You say, well he’s not actually doing anything.

And now you’re preparing your next excuse. Okay so if the FCC does do something, the courts won’t allow it.

You’re just one pathetic excuse after another.

They asked social media to do their dirty work, the threat is implicit as the government's role as a regulator.

So you’re saying that implicit threats are worse than explicit threats.

Pretty ******* stupid to anyone who isn’t brainwashed like you.

Tell me where "I" said those things.

And you are a partisan hack-****.

I'm saying doing things in the shadows is worse than doing things in the open where people can judge for themselves.

N-word, please.

Social Media was a cesspool of misinformation on Covid and still is.

The TRUMP government (Funny how you never hold him accountable for things HIS government did) asked them to stop hawking misinformation.

Trump managed to stumble ass-backwards back into the presidency, and appointed some of the worst political hacks we've seen since the Gilded Age.

The sad thing is, people aren't going to get real upset with him until he crashes the economy. They should be outraged about this.
