Yeah, the certificates are a terrible idea. If someone's got enough sense to buy gold and silver, I can't imagine why they'd lack the sense to realize that the certificates are backed by nonsense.

It's important to diversify. And, you know, silver still isn't THAT expensive. Granted, it's spiked significantly this year. I think it's now upwards of $35 an ounce.

Edit: now $32-33 an ounce. Started the year at like 22.

LOL.....I bought a little 20s era .32 Colt Police Positive snubby a few years back that had a set of solid silver grips on it. Each side weighed a bit better than an ounce.

Scrap price was about $36.00 at the time but I sold them for $120.00 on eBay for what they were for.

I took that money and bought a nice set of proper Colt gutta-percha grips for it and ended-up the scrap price left over.

Other than class/wedding rings and such the only gold I have are a few coins I've found relic hunting and some that I inherited.

I find pursuing precious metals to be more of a sucker's bet. I don't know how many old fart metal mongers I knew who have died sitting on "stacks".

I guess their thieving relatives liked the stash when they found them.

Coincidentally, my wife and I just visited our safe deposit box for the first time since 2012. Among other things, mainly documents, we had a couple gold coins, a couple real silver dollars, and a couple dozen silver half-dollars. I generously estimate that all of them together are not worth a thousand bucks.

The Ferrari can wait, for now.

As do I. On the topic of prepping, plenty of people also stock up on medicines, lighters, etc. Little trinkets that we take for granted now.

OK, I probably thought it would be around 3200---- 3300 by now but it is going to continue to rise steadily.

And if there is this news around June -- August of the Fed etc having issued hundreds more times invisible money than ever declared -- the world will go crazy and the Gold Price could be anywhere between current and 100 000 .
And obviously if the dollar collapses and we revert to the Gold standard .

We have spurted to 3120 as I write and there could still be more steam left in this strong move upward .
However, the big drop cannot be far away --- say within 2-3 weeks, and then we could shed a full 1000 before the "better than ever before" times commence.

Less than a 2 % drop when the Dow Jones is down 12% and has been lower .
Gold will always look after you and this will be key when the real fireworks explode in around two month's time .
