G'ment Has Shut Down The G'ment!!!

Wonder how long those ICE agents can go, without pay? Or the Military for that matter? Or TSA and air traffic controllers....? Hope they prepared for this.... The lump sum in retroactive pay will be nice when it happens, but until then, this can't be easy....for them or their families.
Federal pay checks are always delayed from your work period. So if your pay period ends this Friday, you won’t actually get paid for it until two weeks later.

Only a prolonged shutdown will affect pay, and that is very rare.

Do Democrats want all of them to go without pay?

Illegals are not eligible for many services provided by the government but that doesn’t stop Democrats from getting funding anyways to cover illegals.

The point of the article was to show Waters had the the opportunity to explicitly deny the intent of the Democrats regarding healthcare for illegals and she avoided the question.
Democrats are advocating for the popular position - an extension of tax credits under the Affordable Care Act that are set to expire at the end of the year, as well as a reversal of a trillion dollars in Medicaid cuts in Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”

Maxine Waters does not reflect the Democratic Party's position.

Trumpy Repubs are lying.

“Federal law prohibits the expenditure of taxpayer dollars on providing healthcare to undocumented immigrants,. Nowhere have Democrats suggested that we are interested in changing federal law."
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries

What does the Federal Law state regarding illegal immigration?

We know what the Federal law states and what the reality is regarding adherence and compliance to Federal law when it comes to illegals.

Why is your deductible so high. Youre policy should have low cost benefit zero deductibles for ER

There is some out of pocket max to your deductible. I dont know if all ER is "free" if insured anymore since Obiden 1.0 killed Healthcare. $10K family out of pocket max is common nowadays. All is very confusing too. In network? Etc. I hated reading into it.

Its ok. The $20Bn bailout of Argentina has been deemed essential and will still go ahead.

I'm betting if President Trump signed up for that it is a loan such as they buy 8 million Ford or Sotbeans for Tofu.

The average salary might be $100,000 in DC, but most government workers get far less. If you look at usajobs.gov, you will see that the average is far less for most jobs.

In GENERAL ADMIRAL,
Not sure I agree with that anymore. This is not 1989 with you young and fit.

Need the median, not the AVG. And the total "package" is off the charts vs. Hourly wage.

Your source is incorrect. Illegals are not eligible for either Medicaid or ACA premium subsidies, nor would they be if Republicans restored their cuts to those programs that Democrats support.

Stuff it fatboy. Illegals aren't allowed to vote either or come across the border illegally. //

True, but they know that there’s a risk of a delayed paycheck in the fall and should live in such a way that allows them to have an emergency fund.

Most people earn less than $100,000 who do NOT work for the government and are at risk of losing their job entirely at any time. I don’t hear any weeping for them.

Most cheap Dirty GOVT work is outsourced to contract services. Nobody is crying for them right now.

No, it’s low only if you’re below the middle-class cut-off. When I was on it, a few years back, I think it was around $50,000. After that, a cheap bronze plan with a $6000 deductible and limited network was almost $900 a month.

I once needed PT - and it was $130 per session that I had to pay OOP because of the $6000 deductible. My doc suggested 3x a week for 2 months, but I could only afford 2x. (I was paying $900 a month in insurance PLUS another $1000 a month for the uncovered PT.)

In the meantime, people with incomes of $40,000 were paying less than $200 per month. And people earning $30,000 were paying $30 a month, plus $5 co-pays.

People don’t realize how awful Obamacare was when Obama forced it through.

True, but the contractors get overpaid even MORE, so they have a nice nest egg. They easily get $250,000 - $300,000 a year.

Youre talking about Obama care. Thats terrible insurance high deduct bales and co pays

I worked for the federal government for a long time, and it always cracked me up how people act like it’s the end of the world.

No one is more happy about government shutdowns than the government employees, because they always get a free vacation with the back pay. Although I always had an “essential” position and essential workers still have to go to work during shutdowns. We never got any bonus for working, while the useless people got a free paid vacation.

Yeah but your commute is lighter and less riff-raff to deal with perhaps you all secretly liked it? I loved working thru Covid mask less every single day 2020-2022! Then, return to horrible commute. Bossy big mouthed paper pushers came back.

Yes, but many of us self-employed were forced onto it because Obamacare decimated the individual market. I went from paying $500 a month for a good plan with a reasonable deductible to almost double the premium for a worse plan.

About 5 million small business owners with moderate income had to move onto Obamacare.

Bingo. A few years ago there was a semi-shutdown where the workers worked only 3 days a week for 60% of their pay. My friends LOVED it, because they had plenty of money saved and knew the government would make up the shortfall.

They were praying the semi-shutdown wouldn’t end.

I know a contractor “couple.” The husband is the professional and bills his wife out as “project support administration.” She told me that together they are making over $500,000 a year.

Secret is FED employess cost probaly 3X salary with benefits and overhead.

Silicon Valley used to figure 2.5X total cost for regular workers.

No, the professionals of course. No idea what the toilet cleaners make.

Drop to lower taxes bracket. Winning.

What about association group planes or Blue Shield
