Germany’s Renewable Energy Levy, which subsidizes renewable energy production, cost German households €7.2 billion ($9.6 billion) in 2013 and has gone up ever since. And for every watt of solar and wind a fossil fuel plant must be fired up and on standby for when it fails, which is multiple times a day. This creates grid instability and potential for total grid collapse.. Just ask the idiots in Australia how that worked out for them... The outputs from these plants would be better served by eliminating the enviro wacko crap that they do not get charged with. Wind and solar need to pay the price for backup generation that is required for them to function.
