aw this is sad. o hope the parents win. school is totally at fault and teachers can be bullies.

An absolutely horrible tragedy. The school definitely bears a large amount of the blame for this.

As someone who was bullied myself in public schools for years, I would suggest to the parents that enroll and phone calls are easy to ignore. An irate (but sensible) parent, with or without a lawyer, in the Main Office gets more attention. A parenting the Superintendent’s office gets more attention.

Didn't they try to play the race card at first by claiming she was lynched? Aren't most girls in public schools being bullied and brutalized every day by confused boys in skirts in their locker rooms and showers? Who do we see about that?

First, this is terrible. My heart goes out to the family.

Second--what is exactly the fault of the school here? The girl confided in a FRIEND. She didn't tell teachers or school personnel.

Are schools to be responsible for everything now?

You may want to correct your title and change "dead" to "alive" otherwise it doesn't make sense.

They are responsible when the PARENT makes multiple attempts to have the issue addressed and the administration won’t even acknowledge that there is an issue.

Thats why I suggested what my parents did… an in person, in their face approach that can’t be ignored.

Yes, they should be responsible for everything that happens on campus. If the teachers unions didn't suck every last penny out of school budgets, more security and supervision could be provided.

Terrible and sad. She looks like a sweet girl.

Not sure how the school is to blame though. I cant imagine teachers in this day and age adding to the bullying. That doesn’t make sense.

Why bring her back to life knowing she would be a vegetable? As sad as it is, it would have been more humane to let her pass..

Just because your teachers thought you were an asshole doesn't mean they all treat everyone like they treated you.

Even if the girl's friend had shared what she knew, how much of a difference would that have made in the end? That lady teacher in Richmond, VA who was shot by one of her male students a year or so ago, she and a few other adults who worked at the school went to the school authorities and said that the boy was a ticking time bomb. Nothing was ever done and then he shot the lady teacher. Thankfully she lived. May Kelaia's family clean house.

God bless you and that lady teacher and Kelaia and her family and her friend always!!!

Better education is required, but in the South, they don't want to pay for it.

And then you have the Republicans who are attacking anyone and everyone, making it acceptable to bully. You can bully gay people because "they're not normal", you can bully women because "I'm a real man" etc etc.
