Getting ready for Snowpocalypse 2026

Anyway, I gassed and fired up the snow blower and 4-wheeler w/plow....Anticipation intensifies.....Bring it!

We usually break out four wheelers, a ski rope, and anything you have a chance of sliding around on, because the roads will be closed and no one knows how to drive in that shit around here. Oh, there may be some bruises, nasty cuts and a good bit of fussing involved, but luckily, we only get snow (ice) once every few years.

Looking forward to it, and I have a first aid kit and firewood ready.

We went to Walmart this afternoon here in Tennessee. Salt for melting ice in pallets by the front door. Heavy coats on display near the entrance. Never seen that before. Half the milk gone and almost all of the eggs are gone. I forgot to check the bread aisle because none of use eat bread recently. Everybody down here makes French toast when it snows so I guess the bread was down too. The storm is still not due until Friday night. By then, I will be in Florida and not giving a damn! Saturday I am headed for Key West, the Bahamas, Grand Caymen and Mexico. Enjoy the fun!

So my theory is Kimberly -Clark and Walmart collude with the weather channel to drive up demand. There may be others involved as well.

The models can't decide if Richmond is supposed to get 12" or a foot of snow or rain and ice. I guess we'll just have to be ready for anything, and certainly power outages.

I have spent so many winters in the ice and snow and I decided after I retired, I want as little to do with ice and snow as possible.
Alaska, Idaho, Eastern Washington, just got tired of it.

I feel sorry for some of you. Here on the west coast it's been kinda chilly in the day (low 60s).... and cold at night. But no snow. I've never lived somewhere where it snows. But I like going up to the mountains to visit the snow once in a while.

Correction: I forgot, I lived in Maryland for a short time, when I was a kid, but didn't experience the snow because it wasn't that time of the year.

We've found that if you get all prepared for it, like you did...you likely won't get the foot....

If you didn't prepare, you would!

That's how it seems to work for us in Maine.
