No it isn't, to say someone is an illegal alien means you can PROVE he isn't a citizen (does not have US nationality) or visa holder and I don't think anyone, even you, have done that have you?

Can’t stop it. Nations with strict gun laws still have occasional shootings. A handful in a decade.
You can limit it however. As every other first world nation on earth has done.

When I was in school this was not a problem, yet guns were every bit as easy to get as they are today.
High schoolers had rifles in their trucks back then.
So, the problem is not the guns.
