Gen. Stanley McChrystal should be fired

Or maybe he's thrown his lot in with the terrorists and is trying to undermine the war effort. :cuckoo:

Seriously, he could have simply resigned.

I am curious. Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, President Obama is not the perfect man? Is it at all possible that he is severly butchering the war effort due to his lack of experience and strong ideological thinking that may cloud his judgement?
Is this fact? NO WAY. Is it possible? Absolutely.

Stop seeing him as error free and start considering the possibility that others may know more about their areas of expertise than he does.

You think he is calling the shots on the ground? No. Do you think he has tied the General's hands? No. He has actually significantly increased the troop level in Afganistan above even what W had.

The existing Government iN Afganistan cannot stand alone. It is corrupt and indecisive, to say the least. This is looking more and more like a second Vietnam. The Vietcon had China. The Taliban have Pakiston.

Nope, not calling the shots on the ground. But, McChrystal asked for 60k troops. They said, send us a request for 40k troops instead. So he did that. Obama sat a noodled it through for 3 months and then gave him 30k troops. So, he gives him half of what he needs for the job. You ever try to use half a hammer?

I'm not convinced which government is more corrupt. Ours or theirs. Remind me who just went to work for BP? Jamie.....? Anyway, This is far from Vietnam, except the leadership in the US is acting just like LBJ did.

When a man asks for 40 and gets 30 it is a problem for the man.

If he asks for 40 on Monday and gets 30 on Friday it is a problem for the man.

Calling the shots? No. Hampering the one who is calling the shots? Well, we know he did in regard to troop amounts. We know he did in regard to the timing of the increase in troops. I wonder what we DONT know.

The Community Organizer will likely back down to the General in the end. I expect a whole lot of bluster but no firing. The guy is just too valuable in the end. A Whistle Blower Hero for sure. We should all be thanking the man.

You and I think alike. You just present it better.

But I am much better looking!

If that is what he thinks that is what he should say else he is just a big coward.

Bush did no better in Afghanistan and more than likely no one really could...but even Bush should not have been treated to this gross insubordination and cowardice from anyone under him.

If what you say is a true representation of what McChrystal is doing then he should be brought up on treason charges.

SHUT UP.

He was not treasonous. Read a god damned history book. Theater commanders argue with the President ALL the time. History has shown that the smart President heeds his theater commander's advice. Obama is a moron if he ignores the valid military expertise being offered him.

The ONLY way this becomes treason is if Obama gives him a legal direct order and he disobeys.

Stop with the partisan stupidity and understand that you have ZERO comprehension of the UCMJ. Your concept of what is right and wrong do NOT apply here.

As Jarhead stated, a magazine probably wasn't the best place to speak out but in the end, who gives a shit what you say as long as the soldiers in theater feel their guy is fighting for them.
He wasn't arguing with anyone. And the purpose of a general isn't to fight for his soldiers and the purpose of the soldiers isn't to be coddled by a general.

Their purpose is to fight for the country, nothing more.

Honey , just shut up. If you knew ANYTHING about the military you would know that

A) a commanding officers job ABSOLUTELY is to put his men, and women as his TOP priority. That FACT is the VERY first thing they teach you in OCS

B) Soldiers fight for each other, not their country. That's just a fact. No one is thinking about the USA when the bullets are flying the are thinking I have my buddies back and he has mine PERIOD.

You are hereby excused from this conversation.

Good day

Why would McChrystal stay? That's the question. I don't think this was an accident on his part. He didn't have an "ooops" something slipped out, moment. This was on purpose. I don't see how he stays. It would be like sitting in a pressure cooker with the heat turn past high all the time. He won't be able to work with any of the asshats he called dim-witted anymore.

No, he's going, the only question is how.

Ha! I noticed that....lol.

That's ok, you can be better looking, nobody likes a pretty Infantryman anyway.

Drudge is reporting that McChrystal will resign. If true,it's a real shame. We lost a true Hero. He was a Whistle Blower Hero in my opinion. We should have thanked the man. :(

Soldiers fight for each other, not their country.
Nope.

Good thing you are quitting.

You truly are showing how naive youy are.

And the way you show it is disgraceful.

I joined the military for my country.

I fought for the life of my brothers and myself.

Enough said.
So you agree that soldiers don't fight for their country and it is not their first duty? Then you should not be in the military either, imo.

That's right , keep digging. Ask 1,000 no ask 100,000 soldiers and they will ALL tell you exactly what I just said. We fight for our brothers . I GUARANTEE you that.

But go ahead and tell me again how a commanding officer's first duty isn't to his men.

I mean I only spent 22 years wearing the uniform.

By the way, 22 years 2 wars, 3 deployments, 2 purple hearts. You can kiss my ******* ass with that quitter bullshit. How ******* chicken shit can you be to question someone's service in uniform because you disagree with them politically you god damned piece of shit. Every person on this board should boo you for that.

10 to 1 he will have a job on fox news soon enough....

though i agree it is an absolute shame it had to come to this....

I don't agree the general was a whistle blower hero....but a man that lost his composure and sense of responsibility.

First, read the crest attached to this post -- My Avatar. It is the crest of the 30th Infantry Regiment. If you look closely enough you will see that it refers to the Battle of the Marne River in France in July of 1918. The 3rd Infantry division was defending the sector from a German offensive being launched in their area. The Americans were under French command at the time. The French general ordered the Americans to withdraw in retreat. The American commander replied, "Nous Resterons La!"

And that's exactly what they did for 3 days. You'll note further that the crest says "Our Country, Not Ourselves" That item might be inexplicable to anyone who has never been confronted with the very real possibility of having the opportunity of making that choice.

All of that said, in July of 1918, in France, the men of the 30th regiment were not thinking of shooting the Germans for America or for California or for Michigan, they were thinking of keeping the bloody Hun out of their trenches so they could them by the dozen. They were thinking how God almighty important it was to keep that German, the one 15 yards away from breaking through in his sector, the one he was responsible for and uttering that famous Infantry prayer, "Oh please God, don't let me **** up!"

Can you figure it out now?

Again, he did not. His responsibility is first and foremost to his men. Beyond the nation, beyond Obama, beyond even his own career. The men below him HAVE to believe that he will do ANYTHING and sacrifice ANYTHING to best accomplish any mission he gives them in the safest , best manner possible.

Read some history and see who the most successful Generals were. They were the ones who's men KNEW that he was their man .
