That's a nice post. However, conjob's statements were wrong and don't even match yours. I've read his posts and he believes a uniform makes one better than anyone else. He is wrong. So you agree that soldiers don't fight for their country and it is not their first duty? Then you should not be in the military either, imo.You truly are showing how naive youy are.
And the way you show it is disgraceful.
I joined the military for my country.
I fought for the life of my brothers and myself.
Enough said.
First, read the crest attached to this post -- My Avatar. It is the crest of the 30th Infantry Regiment. If you look closely enough you will see that it refers to the Battle of the Marne River in France in July of 1918. The 3rd Infantry division was defending the sector from a German offensive being launched in their area. The Americans were under French command at the time. The French general ordered the Americans to withdraw in retreat. The American commander replied, "Nous Resterons La!"
And that's exactly what they did for 3 days. You'll note further that the crest says "Our Country, Not Ourselves" That item might be inexplicable to anyone who has never been confronted with the very real possibility of having the opportunity of making that choice.
All of that said, in July of 1918, in France, the men of the 30th regiment were not thinking of shooting the Germans for America or for California or for Michigan, they were thinking of keeping the bloody Hun out of their trenches so they could them by the dozen. They were thinking how God almighty important it was to keep that German, the one 15 yards away from breaking through in his sector, the one he was responsible for and uttering that famous Infantry prayer, "Oh please God, don't let me **** up!"
Can you figure it out now?
Turns out that McChyrstal was drunk and blabbing to the Rolling Stone...the guy has no judgment and no room to criticize anyone.
