The courts are meant to be an intermediate body between the legislatures and the people to keep the legislatures in check. Sometimes the legislatures go beyond their authority and violate the rights of the individual. The judiciary is there to weight the laws against the constitution and give deference to the constitution.

This isn't a new concept. This is older than the constitution itself.

The reason that your beliefs and the judiciary come in such consistent conflict is that you believe that individual rights should be subordinate to the authority of the State. That the state has the power to strip any right from anyone with a majority vote.

You're just wrong. Rights trump powers. And State marriage laws are subject to constitutional guarantees. As the Obergefell ruling makes ludicrously clear.

The case has already been made. Sexual orientations may now marry.

Yes... the US Supreme Legislature has voted and in their 5-4 Vote... it was determined that more people of the Nine People 'believe' that there is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO MARRY. And as a consequence of THAT decision, the CONDITION that Marriage is the Joining of One Man and One Woman... based upon that standard being in alignment with the sexual standard established BY NATURE ITSELF... was set REMOVED for the United States... thus THERE ARE NO CONDITIONS WHICH REGULATE MARRIAGE... thus marriage is WITHOUT CONDITIONS, THEREFORE MARRIAGE IS NOW: MEANINGLESS.

The law doesn't say nature defines marriage. You do. And you're nobody legally. Your personal opinion is not the basis of the law. Thus, overturning a law isn't overturning your personal opinion or nature. You are irrelevant to this entire process.

Back in reality, the state defines marriage within the bounds of individual rights. And they can define it as they wish within those bounds.

As rights trump powers. You insist that individual rights should be subbordinate to the authority of the State. And that's not our system of laws works. Nor should work.

Therefore, once your children are provided "EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW", you will have no means to so much as COMPLAIN that your 7 year old son's science teacher is in a caring relationship with your son. And that your 6 year old daughter is in a loving relationship with her PE teacher.

See how that works?
