I say no man should be subject to prosecution based on what he might do, but on what he has done. I'm convinced all these preventative laws and other regulations in the name of the greater good actually make matters worse.

And yes, restricting civilian access to the means of self defense in an attempt to reduce violent crime is a perfect example of that misguided meddling. They want to reduce crime, but the reality is their rules serve to give a tactical advantage to the criminals. It's insane, but in their world, intention outweighs results.

I get there's a line to draw as to where an action infringes on another's rights, but I'd argue we are miles beyond what would be in keeping with the notion of a free society. A shame. A damn ironic shame.

Only a leftist could believe taking gun RIGHTS from the law abiding, will reduce crime. Only a leftist can believe that citizens should be defenseless and completely dependent on government, for protection from criminals. After all, government is so wonderful and effective it alone is capable of protecting the citizenry.
