We weren't allowed to have candy virtually every day then. I remember my kid--she didn't have much of a sweet tooth anyway, but there was always candy in the house from Easter, Halloween, Christmas etc. When she moved out we had candy in the cupboard that was way over five years old. Her kids are the same--they just dumped years old Halloween candy that, in their words, was "old and stale and we don't like that kind anyway. LOL, when I was young, if it had sugar it didn't last. LOL.
Just talking to a checker at the grocery store in a nearby town where I bought a bag of Hallowe'en candy, and at least in her town, it is almost getting that way. The kids walk up to the door like they're walking up to the candy counter at the store, picking out what they want.
They are not behaving like that yet in the town where I live, but if they start doing so, I'm just getting a big bag of plain mini Hershey's and telling them "Take it or leave it!
Lord have mercy on us all for the way that the system and their parents are teaching kids to be.
Back when I was a kid, we ate our favorites first and what we didn't really like, we let sit in the bag until we were hungry enough to eat it anyway.
