Fun Legal FACTOIDS
(not to be confused with news factoids which are speculations repeated often)

Do you know any city or state laws that most people don't know?
Those "still on the books" laws from the last couple of centuries that can still be enforced?

I'll give you three examples:

Here in Texas.............

* If a vehicle is illegally parked on any public road or highway for more than 24 hours, it is considered ABANDONED by law, and can be removed by ANYONE. Just tow it home, or to a personal property.
Then go down and file a lost title on it, citing "abandoned property". And it's yours.
Used car dealers in Texas don't even know this, but the auction houses do.

*In the state of Texas, you can shoot dead anyone entering your house, BUT you have to sign a document stating it was a "break and enter" or "illegal entry on private property" and your family was threatened, or you warned the person or people to leave and they did not.

*These "ambulance chasing" law offices that send out threatening letters stating they will seize your property if you don't pay off your credit card bills are frauds. NO law office can seize property for recompence if the lein is owned by another entity you are making payments to. They MIGHT can sieze your property IF it's paid off, in YOUR name, and you own more than $10K. But that would have to go thru a judge and/or court and would take a lot of time and money on THEIR part, which they won't part with if it's an amount UNDER $10k.
