This is fascinating. Look at the following here from Russiaā€™s state back news outlet. Now, keep something in mind here we have similar media in America PBS is partially funded by the government.

Course thereā€™s always gonna be people who see a source like this and yell ā€œRussian propagandaā€ at the top of their lungs even if it says thereā€™s 24 hours in one day. Thereā€™s people in China who will see an American news source and Will yell propaganda. Itā€™s always upsetting when this happens. Itā€™s good to read different news outlets of the world.

By the way, worth noting that RT has been pretty neutral on coverage of the Israel Palestine war. They have journalists in Israel and in Gaza. Presenting both sides of the story there.

Anyway look at this. Plenty of Americans probably had no idea about Mr. Nalvalnys past. CNN hasnā€™t really said anything about his past they simply present the guy as a ā€œcritic of Russian politicsā€ or ā€œRussian oppositionā€ even though Nalvalny was a Russian nationalist himself just take a look at the following.

Alexey Navalny collapsed and died on Friday, in a prison colony north of the Arctic circle where he was serving a 19-year sentence for extremist activities. He was 47. In the West, he enjoyed the reputation of a Kremlin critic and Russian ā€œopposition leader.ā€ In Ukraine, he was denounced as a Russian nationalist. In Russia itself, his legacy is at best complicated.

The nationalist phase

Between 2000 and 2007, Navalny was a member of the liberal Yabloko party, before co-founding an ethnic nationalist movement called ā€˜Narod.ā€™ He appeared in two notorious YouTube videos for the movement, one advocating for gun rights to fight ā€œflies and cockroachesā€ (while showing Muslims), and another comparing immigrants to tooth decay.

In August 2008, Navalny spoke approvingly of the Russian intervention against Georgia on behalf of the beleaguered South Ossetia. He went on to participate in three annual ā€˜Russian Marchā€™ rallies with advocates for ethnic nationalism.

Thanks for the KGB line, comrade. You are a good little submissive useful idiot.
Is that you ā€œimagine that.ā€

This ainā€™t the ā€œdefending the truth forms.ā€

Your constant trolling and personal attacks are worthless here. You are powerless to halt free speech here. So you are making yourself look bad all youā€™re doing in threads like this is inventing other peoples viewpoints and telling them how they think. Thereā€™s nothing of substance from you.

You're a Putin supporter. No one cares what you think.

I'm not too interested in your speech, I do have some interest in the following however, I've searched online for the answer without success: were there ever any consequences for Russia when they initially arrested this man and imprisoned him?

There were some threats made in 2021 if he died during his hunger strike. Ironically, this was before the invasion of Ukraine.

What will the West do now that he has died? The world failed him during life. A nature of the cowardice of humanity today.

Do you deny that Navalny was a major critic of Putin's corruption, as well as Putin's genocidal WAR against Ukraine?
You have free speech here in USA, no matter how stupid, but the only free speech you have in Russia nowadays is when you kiss Putin's rear end.

RT.

Jesus! Straight from Putin's ass to your mouth.
That you ā€œimagine that ā€œ from the defending the truth form?

If so, itā€™s OK hope your wellā€¦But here at this US message board freedom prevails unlike dtt

Well, it matters about Nalvalnys background. He was a Russian nationalist, who supported the Russian intervention in Georgiaā€¦. most people have no idea who this man was. They simply watch a 15 second clip on CNN and they think of him as some kind of ā€œRussian opposition.ā€

Now that kind kind of empty thinking by people in the west is not only wrong it is dangerous. Itā€™s the bottom of the barrel type stuff and it doesnā€™t represent American history. Americans used to be more informed than they are today.

What about Ukraine arresting the journalist Gonzalo Lira also an American citizen who ended up dying in a Ukrainian prison? What will America do about the death of this American citizen in the Ukrainian prison who is allegedly tortured by Ukrainian authorities

Nalvalny was a Russian citizen not Americans. But yes, his death should be looked into same with the American citizen who died in Ukrainian custody

Did you coinsider the prospect that the West may have flipped him?

Iā€™m not sure. But his death should be looked into for certain. And it appears plenty of people in Russia that support nalvalnyā€¦.but more support Putin

But I found it interesting that Nalvalny had some pretty hard-core anti-immigrant views, along with supporting the Russian intervention in Georgia

The whole thing with Ukraine reminds us of Americaā€™s invasion of Iraq. Russia is not uniquely evil for the Ukraine situation.

This is to clarify the issue of free speech and independence of opinion in the American press.

He's basically to Russia what the little lefties on here believe Trump is, opposing the big bad establishment. Yet Trump is a traitor and Navalny is a hero. They somehow see a difference between Putin and their own stooges in the US government, the only difference is what Putin is currently able to get away with, the lefties are fast approaching that ability here in the US with the aid of their bought out 'media'. Russia's government also persecuted Navalny in every possible way they could, just as the US government is doing the same to Trump. It simply proves that when given the exact same set of circumstances but with a different narrative, lefties have no idea what they support, or what they actually believe in. They only 'know' because the corrupt 'media' tells them how they should 'feel' about something. They're no more than useful idiots.
