You are not known for allowing facts to get in the way of a loving narrative of Trump's supposed greatness :auiqs.jpg:

You blindly and willingly follow a 21st century Toll 🧌 who goes by the name of "The Donald"

Truth Be Told: Trump didn't inherit 'economic catastrophe'

In his first address to Congress since re-taking office, President Donald Trump (The King of All Liars!), made a lot of claims, including one about the economy that doesn't add up.

"As you know, we inherited from the last administration an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare," President Trump said.

The Consumer Price Index, a measurement of price increases, spiked at 9.1% in 2022 but had dropped to 3% by the end of the Biden administration. That's a percentage considered healthy and sustainable. Unemployment was near historic lows and wages were growing.

New data out over the past few days indicates the economy is now slowing down and inflation is ticking up as President Trump places tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. Instead of economic growth, the Atlanta Fed predicts shrinkage of the nation's gross domestic product by over 2%. That is a sharp reversal from a few weeks ago when the Federal Reserve showed the economy growing.

The Consumer Price Index updated on March 12 will reflect what happened in February with President Trump in office, and will show where inflation stands.

Truth be told, Trump did not inherit an "economic catastrophe" or an "inflation nightmare." One nightmare he did inherit was the rising price of eggs, which has continued to go up during the early days of his presidency.

Despite the new warning signs, the economy remains relatively strong, especially the jobs rate. President Trump is betting that any short-term pain from tariffs will pay off in a resurgence of companies moving manufacturing back to the U.S.

I expect that Trump will get a lot of this under control within a year or so.

Green has been censured. Look at the vote. First up, the ten who sided with the GOP led censure:

The Ten:
  • Bera, Ami California 6th D Yes
  • Case, Ed Hawaii 1st D Yes
  • Costa, Jim California 21st D Yes
  • Gillen, Laura New York 4th D Yes
  • Himes, James A. Connecticut 4th D Yes
  • Houlahan, Chrissy Pennsylvania 6th D Yes
  • Kaptur, Marcy Ohio 9th D Yes
  • Moskowitz, Jared Florida 23rd D Yes
  • Perez, Marie Gluesenkamp Washington 3rd D Yes
  • Suozzi, Thomas R. New York 3rd D Yes

We had Joe Wilson setting a precedent for the current age, the modern antics in the House chamber during Presidential Speeches.

Wilson did ultimately apologize. He was censured.

"I am not going to apologize again," the South Carolina Republican said on "FOX News Sunday" when asked about pending disciplinary steps against him by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives.
Wilson said he already apologized to Obama and that the president accepted it. However, he insisted that Obama "was misstating the facts," and that Democratic leaders in the House were "playing politics" by continuing to focus on the issue.
House Democrats plan to censure Wilson if he refuses to apologize on the House floor this week.

What is most interesting is that before the precedent was played out again and again, we had comments by members who I believe had a more serious view of the House and how it should be run. Institutionalists I've long admired.

As expected, the House voted this evening to censure Rep. Joe (You Lie!) Wilson (R-S.C.) for interrupting President Obama's speech to Congress last week. The vote was 240-179, breaking down largely along party lines. Yet there were a few notable splits:
12 Democrats voted against the resolution, including two of the party's most liberal members: Reps. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Jim McDermott of Washington.
"It does not further the process of civility in the House," McDermott told NEWSWEEK after the vote. "He apologized to the president, and the apology was accepted. That's all there needs to be."
Five other Dems voted "present" during the vote, including Rep. Barney Frank, who told reporters earlier Wednesday that he didn't support the resolution. "I think it's bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks," Frank said. "I don't have time to monitor everyone's civility."
Still, seven Republicans crossed party lines to support the Wilson censure, including Rep. Tom Petri of Wisconsin. "The resolution stated that the House doesn't approve of Mr. Wilson's actions on the floor, and Mr. Petri doesn't approve of those actions," Niel Wright, Petri's spokesman, told NEWSWEEK. "He didn't want to be on the record approving of it, which would have been a nay vote, so he voted yea." Er, OK. A full list of Democrats and Republicans who crossed party lines on the Wilson vote.

While many Americans cheer on antics, I have become one who has had a change of mind. I cheer on Rep. Al Green, because of reasons I won't go into in a thread OP.

Future speeches to joint sessions should be delivered from a remote location and showed on a mega screen at the Congressional Chambers.

This shit is not going to stop.... From either side.

Yeah whatever...Same point.... Future speeches to joint sessions should probably be delivered remotely including SOTU.... The temptation is too great for people to act out.

Biden brought down the Trump-caused inflation.
Putin brought us all the war.
Biden had the all-time energy production in the USA.
Trump claims lying as an acceptable business practice.
Trump is a many time felon.

Biden did not change any of that. This will help you get out of trouble.

Show which Biden programs changed any of that by using official sources verified by economists who are trusted.

Joe Wilson said “ You Lie “ twice , Green said 72 Words over almost 4 Mins

Trump plays stupid games and he gets stupid prizes.
Not sure what he expects.....he never got over 50% of a popular vote

people don't like him
That has nothing to do with your own OP.

Harris was whipped by the popular vote.

The Popular Vote

Trump won 77,284,118 votes, or 49.8 percent of the votes cast for president. That is the second highest vote total in U.S. history, trailing only the 81,284,666 votes that Joe Biden won in 2020. Trump won 3,059,799 more popular votes in 2024 than he won in 2020 and 14,299,293 more than he won in 2016. He now holds the record for the most cumulative popular votes won by any presidential candidate in U.S. history, surpassing Barack Obama. Running three times for the White House obviously helps.

Apply that to Trump, then play.

It is the lowest popular majority percentage since 1860. He did not win a popular vote in 2016 or 2020.

Go back and look.
