With America's recent election, the law of the land didn't act to stop Trump, the people stopped him. The would-be fascist's attempt to grab power was nothing but a comedy routine, as compared to the definitive revolutionary tactics of Comrad Che or Comrad Fidel. Contrast to mr. dressup in furs and cow horns with his feet up on Nancy's desk!
And then after the fact of the election, there were attempts by Trump to claim victory that called upon the law to have stopped. The law could never survive a turn to fascism but did survive, albeit not unscathed, the failed attempt at fascism.
