How do you know that these people are "illegal" ? The majority of them seem to be Kurds and Afghans fleeing persecution.
The extreme right wing government is shirking its responsibilities and the migrant deaths can be laid at the feet of Ms Patel and that dickhead Johnson.

The said "migrants" are safe in France, but they want to get to Britain...why? As with Indonesia, the so called "refugees"/"asylum-seekers"/"economic refugees"...call them whatever you like...were safe in Indonesia...but they wanted to get to Australia...why?

Went with a small group of friends. Home stays with Canadians and Americans.
Winter, just after that 'polar vortex' went thru.
When entering USA from Canada she was made produce a valid passport, valid visa, proof of right to be carrying prescription medications etc.

I would reopen official channels to allow people to settle here. It would sort out the situation straight away. People are unlikely to spend their life savings on a risky journey when there is a legitimate route that they can take.
