They reported that China's compliance starts in 2030 and pointed out that the American consumer drives much more than the average European/Asian consumer. That is our fault (if you want to call it that) but it is what it is. This agreement would hurt the average American.

That other nations can use it as just another tool in spreading their influence...that is going to hurt the US more than Paris will.

We drive more than Europeans because gas is cheaper and our country is more spread out with more rural communities. We drive more than China because the average US citizen can afford a car the Chinese can't

If you say so. I think it is more or less the way the cities were engineered; they were built for business; not pleasure and had an industrial core to them which many people didn't want to live near if given their choice. So when highways were built, people took advantage of them and moved away from the unsightly industrial areas. Now that the industrial cores have been replaced by the service economy, you see people moving back downtown. In cities that have serious public transit the model works because there is an infrastructure to service the masses. It's a matter of public priorities.

Now, I'm certainly not saying that one is preferable to the other. I live downtown in a condominium. I was just saying that the Paris Accord is well meaning but not good for the Average American.
