Prometheus ShruggedFor what reason? I have no problem with someone creating the right product at the right time who becomes incredibly wealthy as the result. I would have no problem with the guy who invented the implantable pacemaker becoming a billionaire, or the guy who discovered insulin, or the guy who figured out how to make a working light bulb.
Why do you envy someone else's genius, hard work and fortune?
I’m not interested in debating someone terribly unformed. That doesn't answer the question. Are you saying all billionaires "...buy government, media, science, education, healthcare, etc...."?
If your answer is yes, provide some evidence. If your answer is no then it appears you just have a problem with rich people being rich rather than their actions.
Billionaires wouldn’t exist if not for corrupt government. What's the argument FOR billionaires existing OP?
You can create the greatest product of all time, but if you don't have anyone producing it, it is nothing. This is why there should be no billionaires, because the people who produce the products are just as valuable as the person who created the product. Therefore, wages should be about the same. For what reason? I have no problem with someone creating the right product at the right time who becomes incredibly wealthy as the result. Still no answer. What's the argument FOR billionaires existing OP?
The idea is the intellectual property of the guy who thought it up, tried 10,000 combinations that didn't work until one did, then put his entire life savings on the line to produce it. He should be richly compensated and I refuse to envy him for being in the right place at the right time with the right idea. You can create the greatest product of all time, but if you don't have anyone producing it, it is nothing. And don't tell me how I don't understand business because I helped a friend build a business, and when we were finally able to pay, we paid everybody the same wages. Needless to say, we produced the best outcomes of any agency doing the same work in the city we were in. We won an award for that work.
The guy who made the filament that actually lit the light bulb did not get properly paid for his work. And the people who mass-produced that lightbulb made it possible for millions to have light without candles.
I wouldn't BE uninformed if you would just answer the question. But, since you refuse to answer the question or provide evidence, I can only conclude that you condemn all rich people by simple virtue of their being rich.I’m not interested in debating someone terribly unformed.
Hint: who just bought TikTok and CBS Paramount?
Hint: who gave Trump $100 million?
There's no argument FOR billionaires so there's no argument AGAINST billionaires. What's the argument FOR billionaires existing OP?
But did he have the money to put it to work?Prometheus Shrugged
They didn't do anything you Plute-lickers give them credit for; their STEM employees did. Corporate patents are the greatest Grand Larceny of the Century. If the geek pushovers would just man up and unionize, they'd be the only billionaires.
How many billions is the fracking industry worth? It was one grossly underpaid petroleum engineer who made it all possible.
And that idea goes nowhere without the people who can produce it.The idea is the intellectual property of the guy who thought it up, tried 10,000 combinations that didn't work until one did, then put his entire life savings on the line to produce it. Billionaires should not exist. Agreed
And besides, it’s a dumb argument. Very few billionaires tried unsuccessfully 10,000 times to make something. Probably only one ever did that. And that idea goes nowhere without the people who can produce it.
If you think a politician being a hypocrite is news, you’re naive.Remember when the Bernout use to rail about millionaires until he became one.
And Thiel will be the first to tell these rubes how he tried unsuccessfully 10,000 times to make something, and they will fall for it. Just like Trump tells them he's a self-made billionaire. And besides, it’s a dumb argument. Very few billionaires tried unsuccessfully 10,000 times to make something. Probably only one ever did that.
Many made their money swinging sweetheart deals with government and politicians. Asshole Peter Thiel used a loophole in Roth IRA plans to earn billions all tax free.

As a person who very much believes that billionaires should exist, I'm very curious to hear the answers to these four questions.
If there is anyone in this forum who believes that billionaires should not exist, please answer the four questions.

I have four questions for Sanders, Mamdani, and anyone else whobelieves that billionaires should not exist.
But first, I’d like to present some background informationbefore I ask those four questions.
Aluminum used to be so expensive that it was considered a preciousmetal. When they built the Washington Monument, they put a 20 poundpiece of aluminum at the top. At the time, it was the biggest pieceof refined aluminum in the world.
Since then, some greedy capitalists figured out how to makealuminum so cheap that today, people throw aluminum foil into thegarbage.
Those greedy capitalists became billionaires because of what theydid.
And we are all better off as a result.

The same thing is true for the people who created LEGO, HarryPotter, and so many other things. Those people became billionaires. And they did so by making other people better off.
Wikipedia has a list of billionaires per country. I clicked twiceon the part where it says “rate,” so it would show the number ofbillionaires per capita in each country. Here is a screenshot of thisthat shows which countries have the highest number of billionairesper capita. This is only part of the list. The total number ofcountries that have billionaires is a lot longer, and you can readthe complete list at the link.

The thing that I find most interesting about that screenshot is that it shows that Sweden actually has more billionaires, per capita, than the United States.
If you go to the link and read the entire list, you will see that there are certain countries that are not on the list, because theydon’t allow people to become billionaires. North Korea and Cuba aretwo of these countries.
Regarding the countries that don’t allow people to become billionaires, immigration patterns prove that no one wants to live inthose countries. All of the immigration regarding those countries isout of those countries. No one moves into those countries.
Now that I have presented this background information, here are my four questions for Bernie Sanders, Zohran Mamdani, and anyone else who believes that billionaires should not exist:
1) Would you rather be a middle class person today, or the richest person in the world 200 years ago?
2) Based on that wikipedia list, would you rather live in a real world country that has lots billionaires, or in a real world country where it’s impossible for people to become billionaires?
3) Why do you think it’s a bad thing that the creator of Harry Potter became a billionaire?
4) What do you think of the fact that Sweden has more billionaires, per capita, than the U.S.?
