Progs made Detroit and other auto cities what they are today. The heyday is long gone. Only Trump can give some respectability back at least to a degree. Literally EVERY consumer advocacy group in existence has said that the market for these things is very very small. The utility for most households is practically non-existent.
But politics is a dirty business....and Ford is having to eat the cost on these, the build out to build them in America, AND the materials required to build them.

They should have followed Elon's business model (he sells more than the others)....he has the best one with the furthest range and best battery efficiency of any of the EV manufacturers. He wants more changes but Automakers are being extremely hesitant. He wants 50v devices instead of 12v. (Power windows, headlights, tail lights and etc) Because it will save on wiring weight, costs, and provide even more efficiency. But device manufacturers are unwilling unless the Big4 (GM, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler) do it.

If the Government had spent the money they spent on Hybrid vehicles they spent on EVs.....
They would have produced a vehicle commercial and agricultural customers would have been able to use. Then the retail sector would eventually have found utility in them too.

Meanwhile making huge cuts in the amount of petroleum products used. The retail sector may clog the roads but they only use 25% of the petroleum products. Commercial logistics use the lion's share of petroleum products.

It would have cut petroleum usage in half for future generations. Instead they spent Trillions of our tax dollars on nothing but a few sound bytes that we heard....but the fat cats got richer on the dollars both tax and wall street dollars.

The electric truck is an expensive vehicle and sales slow down dramatically IN THE WINTER, when its advantages are much less striking.
