Ron Reagan said that conservatives would rather vote for Putin than a Democrat. I thought that was an over-the-top, silly, partisan thought. So I tested it. I threw in a few Democrats' names that immediately popped to mind. That's as far as that went.

Turns out there were several conservatives here who were more than happy to prove Reagan right.

In a should Americans volunteer for Putin's brand of cool manner of speaking? Hell no. Putin is what Russia needed to survive and recover. Russian culture and history is extremely different from its American counterpart. When Russian "mature" people speak of a return to the old ways, they aren't talking about democracy or rule by Constitution. We're talking Stalin in the house of cards on their table. Putin was a necessary evil, a lesser of several, a throwback of the times and a retronym for Tsarist "good" old days.
