Most gun owners I have met are very responsible.

But I have met some where I can say……Who the fuk let this asshole have a gun!

I grew up in a gun culture in which I would say that the household that didn't have one or more was extremely rare. Pickup trucks were everywhere and a whole lot of them had gun racks with loaded firearms in them across the back seat.

I could load, competently shoot, and clean a rifle and shotgun by the time I was 10. (I was in my teens before I was allowed to take one out unsupervised but I knew all the gun safety rules.)

With all that I don't recall anybody getting shot or even threatened with a firearm. No parents worried about somebody snatching their kids or offering them some illegal or dangerous substances. Those pickups driven by students, faculty and admin in the school parking lots had hunting rifles and shotguns in them but there were no school shootings. School was among the safest places to be for us students. But we were safe pretty much everywhere.

(Yes as a precaution we were given the usual instructions even back then. Be within shouting distance of our mothers' voice when the street lights came on. Don't accept rides or anything else from strangers. If some place or somebody looks suspicious, give it/him a wide berth etc. Avoid mad dogs or wild animals that acted strangely. We had pretty good instincts about what was potentially dangerous.)

In other words, a fairly typical Dim voter who would support a Mamdani or AOC all day long.
