Why do farmers grow tomatoes? People should grow their own and farmers should concentrate on more desirable crops.

We have this thing known as winter up here in NW Ohio. It gets cold. We usually can only harvest outdoor tomatoes for about 8-12 weeks per year depending on when we get the first hard frost.

But I have been experimenting with growing them hydroponically indoors.

They don't have to be citizens to pick a tomato or to set fires downtown, that is the only issue here. The whole food industry and most others are built around convoluted crop assistance and price support laws that have morphed into a confusing and misused system that has totally lost its way. Just the milk price support laws are a nightmare. Anything with that much money and visibility will be abused under our corrupt system, and there is no oversight.
