"Flooding the Zone"

I do not belong to the Trumpy Cult.

The buttholes now are trying to emasculate the House.

There's been so much corruption involving trump I forgot about this one.

Trump settles lawsuit over inauguration funds spent at his D.C. hotel

Donald Trump's company and inauguration committee agreed Tuesday to pay $750,000 to the District of Columbia to resolve allegations that they illegally misused nonprofit funds while staging events surrounding Trump's inauguration.

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine had accused the Trump Organization of overcharging Trump's inauguration committee for services at the Trump International Hotel, where more than $1 million was spent in January 2017, including for a private party for Mr. Trump's three older children.

"After he was elected, one of the first actions Donald Trump took was illegally using his own inauguration to enrich his family. We refused to let that corruption stand," Racine said in a press release. "With our lawsuit, we are now clawing back money that Trump's own inaugural committee misused."

Here is another example of flooding the zone. With all the attention being given to the feud between the factions represented by Elon Musk and Steve Bannon over immigration, the fact that Musk is supporting what is essentially a fascist party in Germany is being overlooked. It exemplifies the constant chaos swirling around trump.

ZOMG he cant have an administration that he wants! What a tyrant!
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former federal prosecutor Todd Blanche as his deputy attorney general. Blanche represented Trump in several of his legal cases.

He previously worked in the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York.

"Todd is an excellent attorney who will be a crucial leader in the Justice Department, fixing what has been a broken System of Justice for far too long," Trump said in a statement.

This one is largely flying under the radar cuz..........the zone is flooded. It's another break from the unwritten rules former prez's have always followed. Namely, not naming your personal attorney to high positions in government.

Blanche being the guy who was not only excoriated by Judge Merchan for his inappropriate courtroom antics but also denied Blanche's motion for a delay in sentencing because Blanche did not make an objection available to him before the trial began.

In 2018, in Coral Gables, Florida, then-House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi attended an event for Donna Shalala, a Democratic congressional candidate. In response, the local Republican Party in Miami-Dade County called for a protest of that event.

During that protest, members of the Proud Boys heckled and shouted expletives at Pelosi as she walked inside. That included Enrique Tarrio, the national head of the Proud Boys. At the time, Tarrio lived in South Florida. He now lives in federal prison after being convicted of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 22 years for trying to overthrow the U.S. government. On Monday, Tarrio’s lawyer wrote to Donald Trump formally asking the president-elect to pardon his client.

Another attendee of that 2018 protest was Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Cabrera, who can be seen on video pounding the door of Shalala’s campaign office. Trump just named Cabrera as his pick to be
the next U.S. ambassador to Panama.

But hey, I'm sure he's bigly qualified.

Prior to being a Miami-Dade county commissioner, he was the Florida director of Trump's 2020 re-election campaign and is a former lobbyist.

In November, he sponsored an initiative that Miami-Dade would recognize Hialeah's creation of President Donald J. Trump Avenue. The county commission approved. Earlier this month, the commission overwhelmingly passed 9-1. the name change for the 4-mile road.

This is unprecedented for a couple of reasons. One, because no prez has ever named his personal defense attorney to the #2 spot at Main Justice. Two, because no incoming prez has ever been indicted criminally three times.

If a Dem prez elect appointed his personal attorney to be Dep. AG trumples would scream about it endlessly. And they'd be right to do so. As it, since it's trump, they collectively suck their thumbs and nod approvingly.

The Constitution’s framers were obsessed with the quality of American public officials. Thomas Jefferson extolled "a natural aristocracy among men[,] the grounds of [which] are virtue [and] talents. … [T]he natural aristocracy I consider as the most precious gift of nature, for the instruction, the trusts, and government of society." He argued, "[M]ay we not even say that that form of government is the best which provides the most effectually for a pure selection of these natural aristo[crats] into the offices of government?" Similarly, in the Federalist Papers, Alexander Hamilton recognized that personnel is policy, predicting that "judicious choice of men for filling the offices of the Union" would determine the "character of its administration," while John Jay predicted that “when once an efficient national government is established, the best men in the country will not only consent to serve, but also will generally be appointed to manage it.”

trump is obsessed with nominating loyal hacks, not qualified public servants.

How about you provide us a list of people you think are more qualified than the folks he's nominated for each position.

No hurry, we'll be happy to wait.

'Flood the zone': NYT report reveals top Trump aide's plan to crush foes

The New York Times has written a lengthy profile of top Trump aide Stephen Miller, who will be more powerful than ever in the president-elect's second White House.

The profile contains a number of tidbits about Miller's strategy for the second Trump term that will include radical executive orders aimed at curbing immigration into the United States.

Among other things, the orders being drafted by Miller and his allies include "attempting to end birthright citizenship; designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations; and reinstating Title 42, which allows the United States to seal the border with Mexico if there is a public health threat," writes the Times.

Miller is also calculating that he will succeed by what the Times describes as "flooding the zone" — that is, by doing so many outrageous things that Trump's political opponents will simply grow exhausted and give up fighting.

Note to Steve. Fuck you. We're coming for you and Dotard.

If Biden had named a felon, and a member of the family, to be the ambassador to France, we would still be talking about it. But since trump did, along with hundreds of other corrupt things, nobody remembers.

the nerve of this man thinking he has some executive right to put supportive people into positions of leadership.

Why, that threatens us with the prospect of his accomplishing the goals he spelled out in order to get elected.

How many subordinates in the last Administration challenged the position of President Spudz McAlzheimers?

Note to Steve. Fuck you. We're coming for you and Dotard.
Who is this “we” you reference there, bug?

And what do ineffectual trolls like you plan to do when you “get” to them?

Should your post be forwarded to the Secret Service, bug?

No one is talking about trump declaring he would replace FBI director Wray, who decided to resign rather than be fired.

The FBI director was given a 10 year term by Congress to avoid the kind of politically inspired firing trump just made. After all, Wray is on the record testifying about the J6 insurrection and specifically about the insurrectionists. The FBI conducted the largest investigation in its history in rounding up those criminals. Wray's firing was in part retribution for that.

But due to the onslaught of EO's and nominations of unqualified sycophants no one even remembers Dotard's break with protocol in forcing Wray out. Instead, the focus is on the upcoming hearing for super sock puppet Kash Patel.

'Flooding the zone': Trump hits warp speed in first week back in office

Flooding the zone with illegal actions taken to ensure corruption is allowed.

Trump fires 17 government watchdogs at various federal agencies

Trump's mass firing of inspectors general could be illegal since he did not notify congress, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, indicated

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said that Trump's action may violate federal law that requires the president to give 30 days' notice to Congress of his intent to fire any independent watchdog, the Associated Press reported.

Trump’s ‘Flood the Zone’ Strategy Leaves Opponents Gasping in Outrage

The strategy has existed since at least 2018, when the former Trump administration strategist Stephen K. Bannon boasted of the ability to overwhelm Democrats and any media opposition through a determined effort to “flood the zone” with initiatives.

This time, the flood is bigger, wider and more brutally efficient. As President Trump begins his second term, he has enacted his agenda at breakneck speed as part of an intentional plan to knock his opponents off balance and dilute their response.

Firing inspectors general. Sweeping clemency for Jan. 6 defendants. Investigations of perceived enemies. A federal hiring freeze. Moving to end birthright citizenship. An immigration crackdown. Terminating diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Revoking security clearances.

On Tuesday, just when Democrats thought they might come up for air, news broke that Mr. Trump had ordered a freeze on trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans, prompting a new round of outrage.

Let's remember those opponents make up roughly half the country. The people trump doesn't give a shit about.

This has obviously been a dizzying few days since the Inauguration, with too many actions and orders and proclamations to mention. The incoming team was clearly pretty freakin' busy once victory was secured and preparations were being made to get (back) in. I don't think the country (planet?) has ever seen anything like this.

My guess is that, in addition to "flooding the zone" so that keeping up with and/or opposing any individual thing is pretty much a waste of effort, this administration figures it has to muddle through all of this (getting past teriffs, installing loyalists throughout the government, and making all the other myriad changes) and show actual tangible results before the mid-term elections. Clear outcomes to which they can point to make the chaos worth it. This kind of complete overhaul of, um, everything isn't going to show results, one way or the other, for a while.

Thoughts?
