9-11 was a very confusing day for everyone. Among all the speculation going on was what happened to that jet that crashed into a field in PA, flight 93. That afternoon I got a call - my friend Tom Burnett was on that flight.
Knowing Tom, I immediately knew what happened on that flight.
If you have not watched United 93 yet, you should. It should also be required viewing for every high school student. It's accurate, and gives good detail on what we know, and as far as Tom, excellent job of filling in the gaps the way Tom would have acted.
Couple of side notes on the movie - it didn't clearly point out Toms wife was a former airline stewardess. That's how they met during his numerous business trips. He called her to get her opinion if the hijackers really had a bomb or not. Second was the guy who played the head of the FAA was the real guy. He was on the set as a consultant and everyone loved him. The script had him cuss a few times, he said he never cusses and so they changed the script. In real life, 9-11-01 was his first day as head of the FAA. Gutsy guy shutting down all airspace for the first time in history on your first day.
Never forget.
