Five West Virginia middle school girls refuse to compete against trans competitor in shot put

Doing their best against a person who is MALE, is a waste of time. It proves nothing other than men are stronger than women, and so long as males are allowed to crush women in sport, those sporting events aren't legit.

So, women shouldn't compete in them, let the event die, and only then will the idiots be forced to ban MEN from competing against girls.

And meanwhile back in reality, by choosing not to compete, her chances of getting a college scholarship dies as well.

Do you understand what the word compete means?
Using your logic, there should be no age/sex/size differentiation at all.
So a female 5' 4" 125lb. girl is a weenie if she won't box a 6' 3" 250lb male.
Do you even realize how dumb you are being?
The boy in girls clothing threw a 95'... the average middle age girl throws between 40'-50'. There have been a few girls who have thrown 80'.
That is not competition at all.

I don’t see what satisfaction you get out of winning a competition like that.
I would be embarrassed

The key to athletic competition is a level playing field.
This is not a level playing field

I'll refer you to post #8 of this thread.

Thanks.
Fine, then you are like other weak minded leftist - just pretend there is no reason why girls should be upset that there is exactly zero chance they can win. Just turn the competition into a spectacle as one child wins everything and breaks all the records.
Yeah... that is fair competition all right.
Idiot

I don't know about "hate filled" but choosing not to compete is a sure sign that you're not much of a competitor.
Just because one is an expert in running 440 yards is no reason to get in a 1/4 mile drag (excuse the term) race with a fuel slingshot.
You have chosen an indefensible position, CC.

By choosing not to take the field? In middle school? What was the harm of coming in 2nd or 3rd place in such a competition?

Should Troy State just refuse to play Alabama next year? Nobody in the universe thinks they are going to win.

They were refusing to take the field in protest of a male being allowed to compete against them.

BTW, Troy State gets a big paycheck for playing Alabama. But if Alabama were to cheat, wouldn't Troy be right to be angry?

Shhhhhh, you aren't allowed to point out facts like that!

This is what women should do in events created for women that include people who are not women. It is not much of a competitor who chooses to compete exclusively against those he knows he will beat.

What does a college coach do with their track scholarship application showing they chose not to compete instead of just doing their best?

What happens when those college scholarships that young girls have been training for their whole lives go to athletes that were formerly male?

I never liked those competitions against inferior opponents

I don’t see what satisfaction Alabama gets from running up the score against Troy State
Does someone who scored four TDs celebrate?

On Thursday, five middle school female athletes in West Virginia staged a "step out" protest and refused to compete against a trans-identified male in the shot put event.

In a video posted online, the girls stepped into the box when their name was called to throw, and then one by one they stepped out without throwing their shot.
In the post, former University of Kentucky swimmer turned women rights advocate, Riley Gaines said, "It's a sad day when 13-14yr old girls have to be the adults in the room." She added, "But I couldn't be more inspired by and proud of these girls.

"Enough is enough. The tide is turning!" Gaines concluded.

According to Outkick, the protest was conducted at the 2024 Harrison County Middle School Championships by girls on the Bridgeport Middle School girls' track and field team.

the protest came just two days after the United States Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that West Virginia state law banning males in female sports could not be enforced in regard to 13-year-old trans athlete Becky Pepper-Jackson, who they were competing against that day.

What a bunch of hate filled transphobes....
Genocide!

Just give it time. Dems are working on it.

That being said...if the sport were a contact sport, I couldn't blame any female for not wanting to compete against a dude. It should never be sanctioned by any governing body. Anyone has the right to identify however they wish. Society is under no obligation to make accommodations for it however.

But back to the event at hand...non contact--middle school. No stakes; no problem.

You guys are right. It’s much better to quit and not even suit up. I was thinking maybe you should just try your best. My bad.
