This week Congressman Bobby Rush was ordered by a judge to forfeit $2,200 per month to pay for a delinquent loan he obtained to buy a church.
And this follows:
The Chicago church stopped making payments on the $550,000 loan in 2011.
Rush unsuccessfully pleaded in court to have the payment reduced to $300 per month, because he maintained properties in Washington D.C. and Chicago on top of his need to buy extra healthy food for dietary purposes.
The Democrat makes history by being the first member of Congress to have a salary garnished.
