Nope, he was promoted to the rank of CSM based on merit and was assigned all the duties and authority of a CSM. He would have been sent to Iraq as a CSM and he would have come home as a CSM if had not retired early. All he was missing was a basic educational course that he technically had to finish. To say he had stolen valor by those two other CSMs comes from a place of pettiness and jealousy. They saw someone who by sheer luck retired before getting deployment orders to some shitty desert for 2 freaking years and they hate him for it. But I can see why Maga has latched onto this story like they latched onto Hunter's laptop. Yall are desperate to find something you can use against Harris/Walz. I get it.
