"Books aimed at teaching children about how Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente overcame racism to become both baseball and American icons were removed from schools in Duvall County, Florida for "review" early in 2022, and Pen America says they are among 176 flagged titles that have "been kept in storage with little indication of when they might return to classrooms."
"Henry Aaron's Dream" was published in 2010, "Roberto Clemente: Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates" was published in 2005. According to Pen America, books about Rosa Parks, Japanese interment camps and Hurricane Katrina have also been put on ice. This came after an amendment was made to House Bill 1467 -- passed last July -- requiring books in classroom libraries to be "approved and selected by a media specialist."
This was a brilliant move by DeSantis and in my opinion, this move will guarantee his presidential win in 2024. He is by far the most popular and loved politician in at least the last 75 years....Which will make him virtually unbeatable in 2024. Now that parents have learned that their children will no longer be exposed to dangerous books like books about America-hating athletes like Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente; they will come out in force to vote DeSantis. No issue is more vital to the survival of our country, if not civilization, than making sure children never learn about evil communists like Arthur Ashe or Jesse Owens. There are plenty of other true American sports heroes for children to learn about like Ty Cobb and Marge Schott.
