The suit is a civil suit, not a criminal trial, where far less is required to prove 'responsibility' for actions / outcomes.

Despite Rittenhouse being found 'Not Guilty' based on the facts a certain lawyer may argue had Rittenhouse not brought a weapon no one would have been shot, skipping over the part that had his attackers not chased him down and assaulted him with fists, a skateboard, etc...they would not have been shot. All they need is a partisan / anti-2nd Amendment jury / one that does not believe in the right of self-defense and Rittenhouse could end up paying all that money he won earlier back to his attackers / attackers' families.
